Around the World in 80 Books discussion

I took on a modest random travel challenge and was given five countries to explore through literature - the first being Bulgaria. I selected this book of short stories by a Bulgarian now living and teaching in Texas. These sharp and often sad tales of Bulgarians and Bulgarian expats suggests that these people are obsessed with the country's difficult history and current struggles to overcome recent Communist rule. Families stressed by challenges play a large role in the stories. Lots of grim, dark humor that isn't really my thing but well done.
