DolphinBlue (dolphinblue12) | 45 comments I have been surprised to have read some fantastic books by unknown authors as part of a collection of, say, 8-10 books for 99 cents. Yes, you do dredge the bottom of the barrel sometimes with cheap books, but the collections have often been very good reading. Wondering if others have had a similar experience. Or not. :)

Here's an example of the type of collection I'm talking about: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

I read most of these and gave them 3 or 4 Amazon stars (I rarely give 5 stars). Not a really bad book in the bunch. This is no longer for sale and I don't see these kinds of collections on Amazon much any more, so maybe they were more common in the earlier days of Kindle. Or maybe I'm just not looking for them any more.

Randy Harmelink | 2930 comments I see them from time to time when I post my free book lists.

I've not used them. Generally, they are the first books of series, which are often free at some point anyway.

Beth Roberts | 210 comments Yes, I have a bunch of them, actually. The only problem is remembering what's in them when searching for specific books later, when you have a vast library of books.

Some of them are surprisingly high-quality, with separate cover art, etc., but most are pretty poorly edited.
