Support for Indie Authors discussion

Hey team, I've got a 143k fantasy in need of a fresh set of eyeballs. Here's the short blurb: When infamous thief Juniper Thimble is captured, she expected a quick and public execution. She did not expect to become the Crown Prince’s magically bound human shield, to fall in love with the a law-abiding and mage-hating squire, or to be hunting down demons in the ancient bowels of Castle Bradburn. But with her life on the line, she’ll do what it takes to survive.

I'll read just about anything for a swap, however I'm better suited to fantasy. I'm not looking for a line edit. I need someone to give me a good overview of what works; what doesn't work; when the flow slows; overall development of characters and plot.

I'll warn you - vampires are one thing I'm not a huge fan of. I might come across as being overly harsh or critical.

Tell you something. I will email you a short story of mine (fanfic, again, but the story is totally original). If you like it, we can exchange one chapter each and review it and see how it goes?

We can do a first chapter swap of the actual material you'd like me to beta, that works fine. I've grown fond of Google Docs; does that format work well for you?

I'm not quite ready for more beta readers yet but I'd love to do a swap and give it a shot. However my project is ~260k so I understand if you're hesitant, but if you'd like to swap fantasies I'm down. It's more along the lines of epic fantasy / horror. Let me know if you want to know more!

Does "I'm not quite read for more beta readers" mean that you would want to start later? I understand that; I'm working through a beta read swap now that is taking me a lot longer than I anticipated. I would really like to be done with it before I take on another - because that wouldn't be fair to you or the author I'm working with now.

But, when I'm not with it - I will check back.
