beyza (itsbeyzac) Heyy!! So, basically, I am in a real bad reading slump right now and most of the time I don’t have the desire to pick up a book because im afraid that it would just make it worse!!
So, if anyone has a book recommendation (preferably light-hearted books) to get me out of my reading slump, I would really appreciate it!
Thank u and I hope you all are having an amazing day xx

Tom (riptorn41) I actually jumped out of my normal genres and read a Middle Grade book - it was light and easy, and a quick read. That helped me a lot.

message 3: by Addison (new)

Addison Dixon The Woods Edge (at least I believe that's the title) by Lori Benton is a great one (just look up her name and you'll find it haha). Anything not as well-known, such as the Jane Austen Diaries. Honestly, I've never been in a "reading slump". These are simply books that I decided on when I couldn't make up my mind!
Romancing Daphne by Sarah Eden.
Wings of Fire by Tui Sutherland.

Melliott (goodreadscommelliott) | 510 comments When I am dissatisfied by book after book, what I usually do is go back and re-read something really beloved that I know will make me feel good. Usually works a charm.

That said, there's a charming Brit fantasy book called The Last Dragonslayer, by Jasper Fforde, that might perk you up. And if you like it, there are sequels.

The Daydreamologist (thedaydreamologist) I think that a reading slump's solution defers from reader to reader, but I 'd recommend reading something light and funny, something that would make you laugh. Or maybe even give reading a rest, and try watching a movie, or go outdoors and get a change of air. Live your own life for a while, and leave the lives of books' characters. I hope this works.

Those are the best suggestions in my opinion, I absolutely agree with everything you've said. I always go for a funny and light book when I'm in a slump, my favorite being Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella. It's so hilarious and brilliantly charming that it's helped me through many a slump over the years. Your favorite movies and a change of scenery may also help. A lot of the time, all it takes is the right book to get me out of a slump. I try many many books that don't work and then after skimming a couple, I find the right book and I'm back in business as it were.

˙⋆✮ Anny ✮⋆˙ (annithebookprincess) I'd also recommend some middle grade because they're usually pretty fast reads. I'm reading Carry On by Rainbow Rowell at the moment and it's pretty entertaining and an easy read, so I'd also recommend it. Or Fangirl by the same author :) or maybe re-read one of your favorites!

The Daydreamologist (thedaydreamologist) Have ever tried Howl's Moving Castle?
I'd read that book any time. It's pretty light, witty and humorous.
Howl's Moving Castle (Howl's Moving Castle, #1) by Diana Wynne Jones Howl's Moving Castle

I was going to say Kristin Hannah too! Reading The Four Winds and it's the best book I've read this year and I've read a lot of amazing books. I just bought The Nightingale to read after I finish this one. Elsa is my favorite character ever.
