Going to start this one today. I hope it isn't one of those books that slut shames girls for not being virgins. It could either go very well or very badly! xD

18% (view spoiler)[ I like it so far, Avery comes across as quite wilful even when she's desperate. It's a very quick read, which I like. Gabriel is obviously the dark bad boy, but he hasn't done anything too despicable yet, unless he was the one who had Avery's father beaten. I can't see how her father's health will improve with the condition he's in. It's messed up that her choices are marry a man she considers an uncle or sell her virginity. (hide spoiler)]

40% (view spoiler)[ This is getting messed up. She's so terrified stepping out onto that stage at the auction, and Uncle Landon is there? Ugh. I so hope he doesn't buy her. Candy seems like such a strong woman and one to be respected, I liked her a lot. I also liked Harper, she's a true friend to stick by Avery through her father's downfall. Justin is such an ass though, how dare he beg for her back when he left her so easily. (hide spoiler)]

60% (view spoiler)[ So the sex scene is problematic af as it was always going to be, but it isn't the worst written sex scene I've ever read. It could have been a lot cringier. There's always the discussion about whether this is abuse or not, and I wouldn't like to be the one to say. Of course he bought her, that much was always obvious. He seems less brutal than he wants to appear, when he finds her drunk and just tucks her into bed. (hide spoiler)]

80% (view spoiler)[ I don't think Justin is telling the truth. It'd be a huge cop out for her father to be innocent. I'm so surprised he's recovering! I'm getting more uncomfortable with their relationship as I go. He paraded her at the theatre and staked his claim and I hate how humiliated he makes her feel. (hide spoiler)]

I'm so used to the love interest being so intensely glorified, and to see that he takes away what he knows means the most to her? Chapter 1 - 5 (view spoiler)[ I like the story. Avery James has a lot of things on her shoulders. With her father beaten and created enemies for stealing from them, Avery suffers financially. Peologue ends in an omen that I wasn't surprised when all her world fell apart. I didn't read the sinopsis so I was a bit surprised about the plot. It is not a YA novel, right? I know she is 19 but...
