- What kinds of books do you like to read?
- How did you find our group?
- What's your reading goal?

And after you have answered these questions, come visit our Where in the World Thread, and see where the other Challengers are from. We will add you to the world map!

Rachelnyc | 170 comments Hi everyone.

I'm from New York and like all of you, I love to read. I've been on Goodreads for awhile but only starting joining groups and doing challenges this year. It has definitely inspired and motivated me, so much so that I increased my reading goal from 50 (what I read last year) to 100 books for 2018.

I read mostly contemporary/literary fiction but I also really like historical fiction, narrative non-fiction and like to mix in some sci-fi/fantasy as well.

Looking forward to reading with you all!

Serena | 74 comments Hi everyone,
I'm Serena and I'm from Italy, but currently living in England. I love to read novels and self-development books, english or italian books. I want to read more than what I used to, hence I joined Goodreads and this group. I set a challenge of 10 books for this year but I really hope i can find time and motivation in order to increase this small number. :) I'm happy to share with you all my reading adventure!

message 7: by Diana (new)

Diana Hey !
I'm from Austria, my name's Diana, and I love books, which obviously you all like.💁🏻‍♀️
I'm a sucker for Fantasy & Romance. My favourite books are the Harry Potter books, duuuh.
My reading goal for this year is 130 books. I never did the Reading Challenge, so I think my goal is rather impossible, besides the fact that I also go to school and have tests and that kinda stuff.🙂 But I wanna try it.
I don't know if I like this group because I have not the slightest idea how this works. I thought it's like Whatsapp but it's..more complicated. But I think I'll eventually like it. :)

Kadijah Michelle (kadmich) | 2176 comments Whether your goal is big or small, this group is for you because we have something for everyone.

Serena, if 10 books is the right goal for you, then that is fantastic! That's more than 30% of people out there!

Diana.Md, yes, this group is has a lot of threads, but how involved you want to get is totally up to you. You can join one thread or them all. You should receive a Welcome Message that should help you navigate our group. Just remember to have fun.

I'm a goodreads member since (sorry I forgot the year ! yep, that's me!). I haven't done reading challenges and haven't read that many books. I want to read more, so I'm back to goodreads. hi Gv welcome to the group we are so happy to have you join us. I have come to the conclusion that it is not about the number of books that you read but about enjoying the books you pick up. There are many challenges and group activities to help you along the way. Join as many or as few as you would like. This group is very work at your own pace as long as you are having fun. I am a big believer in wishes coming true so I will keep my fingers crossed for you. If you need anything please don't hesitate to let us know. welcome again and happy reading.

luv2read Hi, I'm Chantal and recently relocated from South Africa to New Zealand. Have been on Goodreads since 2012 but with a busy lifestyle, work and kids never really had spare time to read or even remotely reach any of my reading challenges. Now I'm a stay at home mom (till employment comes) and have set my challenge for this year to 48, although I think I am secretly aiming a bit higher. I mainly read Fiction, Romance and the occasional Fantasy and Thriller. One big goal would be to try some of Stephen King's books. I also like to read my favorite collections yearly. Looking forward to being in this group :)

I joined an Authors work challenge to motivate me to read more of his work I will link it for you below. I hope you have a great time reading your 48 books with us.

I'm from the UK (Midlands). I will give any genre a go once, and my tastes change from month to month. I am currently enjoying a fantasy and thriller phase. Samantha S (samanthashnnn) Hi, I'm from a small town in Michigan. I love to read any books with strong bad-ass women, but will usually read anything post apocalyptic or dystopian.
I found this group through booksandlala's page here on goodreads :)
I would like to read 52 books, or one a week. I've been on goodreads for almost 2 years now and last years goal was not met, but I didn't get much into reading again until fall, so I'm not suprised.

This is my first full year on Goodreads, I joined about this time last year. Started at 20, managed 30 before things got too busy. Welcome to the group and hope you get your 52! Or close to it.

Hi Samantha welcome to the group! I am so glad your friends page brought you to us. I think 52 is a fun stress-free way to read. I have a friend set my goal every year and every year they challenge me. Strong women reads are we talking fiction or nonfiction? I look forward to seeing what you read this year.

message 33: by Tom (new)

Tom Lange - Where are you from?
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (Born in Flint, MI and have lived in Texas, Virginia, Hawaii, and Japan). Have been lucky enough to travel the world in the past but much more quite in that department lately.

- What kinds of books do you like to read?
Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Conservative Politics, Military History Non-Fiction

- How did you find our group?
Link to a Buddy Read on a book I am currently reading.

- What's your reading goal?
I have never been a huge reader. Just enjoy a few here and there, so I set it larger than last year but still fairly low at 15. Odd thing is I seem to have a craving this year so I am way ahead of pace. Time to knock out some TBR.

Sasha Magnus | 2 comments Hey!
I'm Sasha, from Fiji.

I've read books like Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner, etc, etc, and I have loved all of them dearly. So I guess I'm into fantasy, sci-fi, and really anything to do with mythology. (Thanks, Rick Riordan.)

I found this group when I was brooding through groups to join and this one was the first on the list for 'recently active' and I guess I like active groups? Heh.

I have a reading goal of 25 books this year. I have read only two so far. (I know, I know. I'm four books behind schedule. But hey! Where I am, people read books that are like a hundred years old.) I'm currently reading the Bartimaeus and Artemis Fowl series, and I guess they're cool, though I've only read the first books in the two series. I'm currently on the second books.

So, um, yeah! That's me.
Thanks for the welcome.

my 50 books early because I'll be busy with a new job by
summer... hopefully.

Thanks guys

Mythology sounds like a fun genre to dive into so have you read Norse Mythology? I wish you the best of luck in all things books this year. I hope you enjoy your time with our group happy reading.

Olivia | 1 comments Hi group,

So glad to find this app, which could track my reading and communicate with you guys.

It’s my first day using Goodreads, and the first day join in this group as well. Thanks for your warm welcome.

I live in America and China, speaking both English and Chinese. Really love to read books in these two languages. I often read a book in Chinese, then a book in English, then Chinese, then English. I love business, non-fiction, psychology, etc., all the books except novels. Hahah, cuz that’s too hard to remember names, pilots.

I know many of you set a challenge of 50 books in 2018. I set 20, is that tooo weak? Hopefully not hahahah.

Anyways, really love to make friends with you guys. And looking forwards to sharing reading experiences.

Have a nice reading journey!!!

Olivia

Mark (markhousley) | 8 comments Hey, I'm Mark from Ohio (recently, mostly Colorado though). I'm a reader through and through. I remember riding my bike to the library as a kid and that has been my life ever since :)
I read horror, sci-fi, YA, fantasy, contemporary, non-fiction, really whatever. I will bail on a book in a heartbeat though. You know there are so many great books out there that I can't waste my time on a dud!
I'm a huge collector of books (ebooks, no room for physical) and I use Calibre for that. I get a little exasperated at myself because I can waste away a few hours just organizing, and cleaning up the metadata on my books. It eats into my reading time, lol. Book lists are the bane of my existence because I want to track down all the books!
My reading goal is 120 this year and I'm coming along nicely. OMG, this is turning into an essay. Anyway, hope to interact with folks about all things bookish.

TL:DR- I'm Mark and I like to read, so add me as a friend!
