Kronos Ananthsimha | 34 comments Hey buddy. From which sub genre of action adventure should we choose our March book? who're your favourite writers? I'm looking forward to reading Cussler or something similar. What about you ?

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 237 comments Hi Kronos,

as long as it's not SF, horror or paranormal I'm pretty open - so I browsed your TBR and found some books I want read myself (and have immediate access to):
The Innocent (Will Robie, #1) by David Baldacci Chasing Ivan (Kyle Achilles #0.5) by Tim Tigner Night School (Jack Reacher #21) by Lee Child Black Site (Delta Force, #1) by Dalton Fury Clear by Fire (Search and Destroy, #1) by Joshua Hood The Cleaner (John Milton #1) by Mark Dawson

700+ pages or need to read previous book in series (I'm not sure I can manage those in one month or less):
Red Sparrow (Red Sparrow Trilogy #1) by Jason Matthews The Icarus Agenda by Robert Ludlum The Game (Victor the Assassin, #3) by Tom Wood

If you want to check out my suspense buddy read list I created a separate shelf ( available-for-buddy-reads) though its not only AA but any kind of suspense genre.

From those on your list The Innocent, Chasing Ivan & Night School would be my favorite. Red Sparrow is marked currently reading on my shelves but I'm only a few pages into it. Red Sparrow & The Icarus Agenda I would read in a different language edition.

Kronos Ananthsimha | 34 comments I'm game for Chasing Ivan. It's an ebook. When do we start? I may try starting it today along with the other books that I'm reading. :)

I like Tim's style so I'm looking forward to this one very much. Today I'm pretty busy but I can start either in the evening (about 10 hours from now) or tomorrow moring.

Kronos Ananthsimha | 34 comments Sure. I'll start today. I'm kind of a slow reader.

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 237 comments I'm not the fastest reader as well, but beeing ill often I read much. Since today's another day with much pain I'll be reading much.
So far I read the first 9 chapters (32% of the book) and I'm thrilled once again. I forgot Tim likes to start his books with a bang and it's so well written I could read it in one go *grins*

Still, to give you a chance to catch up I'll switch now to one of my other books and continue either tonight to tomorrow - depending on your feedback :-)

Kronos Ananthsimha | 34 comments The starting scenes where Kyle climbs the building is very unique in this genre. It gives an inside look into how climbers do what they do. I reached the part where the mayor's daughter goes off on a date. I was busy in college and could read only this much. I'll surely catch up and race you today.

Good to know, in that case I switch to Achilles back now :-)

Kronos Ananthsimha | 34 comments Hey, I finished the 11th chapter. The way the plot flows is kinda spy fantasy-like. I think the books written by Vince Flynn, Tom Clancy, Mark Greaney, Ben Coes and Brad Thor are much more realistic, complex and diverse in terms of the narration and plot. But Chasing Ivan is really fun if you ignore the fantasy part of it. Which chapter are you at ?

I finished chapter 16 by now and I'm not sure I can agree with you on the fantasy part though I have to admit I never read the authors you mentioned - the only one I had really great access to was Richard Ludlum (my father's a big fan and has most of his books).
Recently I got my hands on a big Vince Flynn bundle and want start those sometime later this year.

If you mean with fantasy the author's usuing gadgets that are most likely not existing (yet) that's something I can agree with.

I like the light and entertaining though still fast paced style with enough action to get adrenaline flowing but not that unrealistic it's not believable anymore. I'm aware there're some rather unlikely elements (view spoiler) but that's thankfully not spoiling my fun reading Tim Tigner's books. And you have to keep in mind this book is mostly a short introduction to Kyle Achilles the main character of an entire series.

Kronos Ananthsimha | 34 comments I do apologise. As I've progressed I'm beginning to think that it's a good book. The scenes where they tail Michael is very informational on spycraft. It's all well written but lacks the serious ideological conflicts that political spy thrillers have. Robert Ludlum, whom you mentioned, does very detailed stories that make you think on real world issues. Tim is a great writer, no doubt, but the content is too light and so it feels like spy fantasy. But in the book, he has applied the tactics that he learnt when he was a real operative himself during the cold war.

Kronos Ananthsimha | 34 comments I'm in the 21st chapter. The plot picks up well.

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 237 comments No need to apologise - I'm glad to see other people's POV, especially if they disagree with me - that way I can see or learn something I either not noticed or was seeing in a different way.

I'm glad you like this book now more then in the beginning :-)

I had to deal with some house chores so I'm not futher in the book but hope to take a few hours tonight and finish it. We'll see how well this will work :-)

Kronos Ananthsimha | 34 comments I finished the book. I'll put up the review tomorrow. The plot twist at the end will knock you down. The book could have had some politics and analytics scenes or scenes where the op is managed from the background characters pov .

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 237 comments I finished the book last night and really loved it. I can understand it's not for everyone though the right stuff for me. I'm already looking forward to continue the series and will start to look out for the current last book in series to get it on sale as soon as I can. As far as I remember there are planned another two or three books in this series.

After Jo questioned the source of the bank account information and the seemingly mistake Ghost made I started to suspect Ryder has something to do with it (especially since he was so forcefully bend on killing The Ghost) though I wouldn't expect it to be this way - though looking back it was obvious :-)

Kronos Ananthsimha | 34 comments lol. I had read the last chapter a few months ago. So, I knew that Rider was corrupt. I didn't give away any spoilers till you finished.

I'm so glad you didn't I really hate spoilers :-)

All in all do you think the book was worth a buddy read or do you think another one (anyone) would be a much better choice? Are you planning to continue the series? I had the feeling you weren't that excited about this author's style but could be wrong :-)

message 19: by Kronos (new)

Kronos Ananthsimha | 34 comments I'll continue the series someday. There's a lot on my to-be-read pile. I'm currently reading Brad Thor's Code of conduct. I think you'll like it.
