I had finished the book called The Raft by S.A. Bodeen. This book was a very descriptive one, I really liked it. My favorite part was when Robie was wishing that the plane was not going down (hoping it was a dream), and she really started to get worried, when she got the raft handed to her and got told to blow it up that's when she really got into a panic. My least favorite thing about this book was you could easily tell that it was fiction, because it was always one bad thing after another. I would really recommend this book it really takes you on a journey.
I too have read and liked The Raft. I think the theme of the book is "preserve yourself from harm." There is lots of evidence in the book that can support this theme. In the beginning, we learned that Robie has to think of something worse because it will help her cope with the situation better and she used this method throughout the book. For example, when she got her nose pierced she asked the guy to tell her something worse to make getting her nose pierced easier. She also did this on the raft, she pretended max was alive because she knew that being alone was worse. She read out of his journal to make up conversations that she could have with him. The Raft is a good survival story with a strong theme, I would totally recommend this book for people who want a good survival story.
