Anyone wanting the captain's hat? Any ideas for names? I am wretched at naming things that aren't dogs and cats, so I hope we have some creative people on board. :)

If nobody else wants to be captain though, I can do that.

I kid, but I'm happy you will be Captain Eldarwen.

Thanks for volunteering for captain Eldarwen!
And I’m terrible with coming up with names!

I ki..."
haha it’s not a bad idea actually, it’d motivate us to go for the win! Although my competitive side already wants it :)

I'm Allison or Al (I use Allison Ann to thin me from the Allison herd here on GR, but I always feel like I'm in trouble when people call me that). :) I live in NW Ontario, Canada surrounded by water (frozen at this time), rocks, trees, wildlife and very few people, my time zone is central (so 5 p.m. for shelf call), I work in seasonal tourism (so all the time or not at all), I'm 48 with a bunch of furry children but no human ones and I prefer my reading with minimal romance (so PNR is not the shelf I'm most looking forward to). I also clearly have a problem with parentheses. :) I've played SOS Bingo before but not the last few rounds. And I think I'm going to read Dead to the World for my free space call - #6 UF Series. Started the series when it was first released but haven't gotten back to it since. Might as well dig some of those back shelf books out. :) Looking forward to getting to know you all.

I really enjoyed the first books in the series but felt like Harris was losing interest while writing the ~3 last ones. Nevertheless, the books are a guilty pleasure and it was good entertainment hehe.
With a bit of luck you're going to find something with less romance on the PNR shelf - people shelve books in the oddest way at times o.O
So yes, a little bit of introduction is definitely in order, good call Al! I go by Eldarwen, Eldar or just E on the internet for the most part though my real name is Stephanie, usually shortened to Steph - always makes me go "huh" when someone writes Steph in the Discussion Thread because I'm wondering what I've done now ;-)
My absolute favourite genre of all times is fantasy - mainly of the Urban variety these days but I like all kinds as long as the synopsis sounds interesting. I also enjoy a good crime/thriller novel from time to time. I've recently fallen into the In Death trap ;-) And I've rekindled my tentative connection with the Black Dagger Brotherhood series just this weekend. I read the first one and wasn't entirely convinced but I read the second book almost in one day.
Not sure yet what I'll read for the Free Space... I have trouble deciding at the moment. Too many books that want my attention!

So I will most likely not be awake when shelves are called.

Anyways, I'm Victoria (or Tori, but I usually just go with Victoria on GR). I'm American, but currently live in England so shelf call for me will be around 11pm, but I'm working a night shift tonight so I'll at least be awake for the first call. My all-time favorite genre is also fantasy, but I dabble in most everything. I read mostly romance and urban fantasy for the past two years or so, but this year I'm trying to be more varied in what I read. I've done pretty well so far, but I'm probably going to go back to reading a ton of uf throughout this challenge.
And for the free space I'm going to read Burn Bright :)

I'm waiting for the book to be released in my paperback edition so it fits with the others on the shelf. Nope, I do not have issues ;-)
Right, I'm going to browse the group shelf for a little bit and will try to decide on a book. Otherwise, I'll just log on first thing tomorrow morning so I'll see the shelf call and then I'll pick something for that.

And now off to bed! Good night! :-)

I'm waiting for the book to be released in my paperback edition so it fits with the others on the shelf. Nope, I do not have issues ;-)
Right, I'm going to browse the ..."
For some reason my bookstore gave me a paperback copy a few days before it was released. I was very confused and think it might actually be an ARC they happened to have stoked - no idea and I'm not complaining =) Although it still doesn't match to rest of my books since it's not a massmarket paperback, but since I don't actually like those editions I'm okay with it being different.
And if I'm the first to see the shelf announcement I'll post it here :)

Mercy Thompson is another series I want to get back to. I'm sure I'll be able to slot a couple into Bingo.

And the shelf is...
Shelf #1 ~ 7/3/18: Futuristic Romance
DIRECT LINK - https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/...

So I think I will start with my Free Space book and start hassling someone to read faster and return that book to the library soon. ;) Or find something else that I can get to sooner. I refuse to spend money on books with embracing couples or half-naked men on the covers - and this list is full of those books.

And I'm probably going to end up reading Memory in Death, but I'm still deciding. Although I should read it in an attempt to catch up. I'm on #22, which sounds like a lot, but you're apparently on In Death #46! There's so many freakin books in this series!

I didn't know Johanna Lindsey wrote anything besides historical. Hope you enjoy it Tatenisha.

@ Allison - I'll catch up with the series... eventually...

Ooooh, yes, yes it is!
I'm going to pick up

See? I'm even further behind haha.

Fingers crossed it's a good one!

Sorry, I completely missed that until now!! o.O
I like that one!
Allison likes both suggestions. Victoria?? What do you think about this one?

Well, as I said I like both and fine with either, but since I happened to have a coin on hand I've decided to let science choose my preference - and it's apparently 'One and Done' (because it landed on tails :)

I will be done my Free Space book tonight and because this is just our first shelf, I'm going to wait a couple of days to see if

As you said, it's only the first shelf, so no worries if the books aren't read within the week. We have plenty of time! :-)
I decided not to start with the shelf book yet because I want to finish my slow burner first. Otherwise I'll never finish - I just know it haha. And last night, it finally started picking up a little bit so I'm finally less than 100 pages from the finish line!
And then I'll decide what to read for Free Space! Finally ;-)

Week: Free Space
Shelf: Best of UF Series
How The Book Fits: #6 on Best of UF Series

Book: Dead to the World
Author: Charlaine Harris
Date Read: 3/08/18
Rating: 4 Stars
Review: I am getting back to this series after a long break. I liked this book better than the first few because a) very little Bill b) Eric wan't such a tool for most of the book and most importantly c) Sookie wasn't such an idiot as usual, she did some thinking for herself and didn't need rescuing as regularly. As she likes to quote so often, she doesn't have much book learnin' *sigh* but she's smarter than people give her credit for. Until this book I assumed she was delusional and dumb as a brick, but she gave me hope this round. She still doesn't have much in the way of common sense, but she might be able to think her way out of a paper bag.

I'm about two thirds through Holiday in Death for the Futuristic Romance shelf and I'm going to read Silence Fallen for Free Space.
