This is a fun site:

https://www.fakespot.com

You can enter the URL of any Amazon, Yelp, TripAdvisor, or Apple app product page and get an analysis of how fake or authentic the reviews are, according to their algorithm.

For example, the reviews of Test of Time by Amelia C. Adams (not linking to it because I don't want to give it publicity) on GR looked suspiciously "coordinated" to me. So I ran its Amazon URL through Fakespot and sure enough, the reviews get an F rating. They are highly faked!

"Unreliable Reviewer
LlJaxsMama
Reviewer Analysis:
✓ Overwhelming amount of positive reviews

✓ Language utilizes many superlatives or is suspiciously positive

✓ Correlation with other fake reviewers' profile data and language."

or:

Unreliable Reviewer
Daniel Mendez
Reviewer Analysis:
✓ Reviewer account looks to be generated by automation

✓ Correlation with other fake reviewers' profile data and language.

If the software detects that Amazon has deleted/scrubbed reviews for violating TOS or whatnot, they will say:

"Our engine has detected that Amazon has deleted and scrubbed reviews from this listing. We approximate total reviews deleted to be 386." (as was the case with Hempz Original Herbal Body Moisturizer, 17 Fluid Ounce).

Justanotherbiblophile | 1814 comments It's too bad that they're telling the fakers how to improve their faking-ness.

True.

Also, it's not necessarily fraud if a bunch of reviews are all created on the same day by one reviewer. Although maybe it is on Amazon? On GR can't you upload/transfer/import many reviews from another site? Seems to me I have friends who are not fake reviewers who have tons of reviews dating from the same day because they uploaded them all.

NancyJ (nancyjjj) This is a great resource. Thanks! I had a hard time picking out new earphones last week on Amazon because many of the products had nearly all "5" ratings, all within a couple weeks, and all with awkward language (I think the products were from china) using similar terms. Oh, and no verified purchases.

This type of service would be very helpful with hotel reviews too.
