Frankie Alabaster | 5 comments I read this book at my middle school library around 2011-2014. Middle school students were definitely the target audience. I don't remember much about it, except that it's set in an apocalyctic future where people slowly fuse with machines, until the fusion kills them. The main character is a guy, and I think at the end he is able to use the particular machine he is fused with to beat the bad guy (one of them has the power to control the internet or something? Maybe?). Also, I think the cover of the version I read was black with some sort of green/blue electronic design. I realize this isn't much to go on, any help is much appreciated!

A long shot - The Legacy Human by Susan Kaye Quinn?

Can you describe the machines and what they do (e.g., humanoid robot)? What's the purpose behind the fusion/merging? Do some people welcome it?

Lou Rocama | 457 comments Maybe Coda?
Coda (Coda, #1) by Emma Trevayne

Frankie Alabaster | 5 comments It’s not The Legacy Human or Coda... sorry, I really remember so little that I can’t give you much detail. I don’t think there were robots involved though, just humans who had fused with various machines (e.g. a computer) in various unpredictable/random ways (I think??). Thanks for your help!

Kristia Peschka (kpeschka) | 6 comments Real long shot but is it The White Mountains it looks like it's a series and has a couple different covers. Seems to be YA or Middle Grade.

Frankie Alabaster | 5 comments Hmm not that either unfortunately

There's this thread but it looks like a loose match:
