P.S. Tech - I did leave you a couple of good tracks from Dexys.
EDIT: Jackie's clip has only 191 views! I guess everyone bought the album!

191? sigh! as obscure in death as in life! criminally sad.

Torn between this (pretty much guaranteed no-pointer) and Tom Waits's Cemetery Polka. I thought I'd be kind to Derek.

It had to be that song by The Hooters - fantastic band - saw them live at Manchester Uni 30 years ago this month!

Have you seen Strictly lately? Just about everything is allowed on there nowadays. I mean, since when is the jive a ballroom dance?
If you'll accept jive, I have another option. Meanwhile, I'm taking my nom and going home!

Jive seems legit, as, surprisingly, is bolero!

In the paso doble, the dancers are mostly separated. The man is the matador and the woman represents his cape and gets thrown all over the place!

being a veteran of the old blackpool tower ballroom (there's something magical about a man emerging through the floor with both hands manipulating his huge organ!) i would say les's list would be definitive and i'd say jive is correctly listed on it! :)
gets a ten from tech!

From the snippets I’ve been unfortunate enough to catch sight of, the participants are embarrassingly dressed (or barely) and the music is unadulterated crap. But then I’ve always loathed most forms of dancing and spent 5 years at school managing not to learn.

I really like your style, Lez :-)

I nearly nommed 'Do The Standing Still'. My kind of 'dancing' for sure, outdone only by 'Do the slink off into the corner and pretend to be part of the architecture'. ;-)

Was it a graveyard show?! ;-)

of course, polished to a satisfying gloss tho'! :) actually, to my mind they are the ideal footwear for any kind of dancing (yeah, i don't have any other footwear!). it seems i'm in the minority here as i like a good dance! you gotta express yourself, become one with the music, become the living embodiment of the rhythm - what it looks like to others i don't know! that's where the dms come in handy! :)

Notes:-
1. Goldfrapp is in the playlist but not on the voting form.
2. The Cult is on the voting list but nt on the playlist
(Neither made my top 5 so I'm not bothered, but others might be)
3. Do all Wizzard songs sound the same? I thought I was listening to their Christmas hit!
4. Loved The Weather Report; admittedly a bit long, but you can't beat a bit of Starsky & Hutch guitar.

3. Do all Wizzard songs sound the same? I thought I was listening to their ......"
Yes! Well, they all sound the same to my ears anyway ;-)
169. Compass Points - Title must contain one (or more) of: North/South/East/West - SussexWelsh
170. Wildcard Round 4 - Any song you like, specifically new or seldom heard songs (originally an idea by Val)
Round 9 themes:
171. 'The Nurse With Wound List'. On the first two Nurse albums appeared this list of artists, said to have been influences on the group (as it was in the beginning). Mr Stapleton later claimed some didn't even exist, but research seems to suggest all in fact, did. http://nwwlist.org is where to go; click on 'artists' then on 'named' which contains all those on the list. The albums included are merely suggested. You don't have to stick with them; anything by that artist is ok. Nothing from the 'Related' or 'More' sections please. There should be plenty of bands known to all but the most sheltered of souls! You will get kudos points for the weirder side of things though. - Tim
172. Songs about getting married - Val (pipe down all you cynics! I want to see lots of brides, rings, bells, aisles, chapels, weddings, etc)
173. Songs with sound effects in them (thunder claps, breaking glass, cars revving up, roaring crowds, dogs barking etc. etc.) - KJS
174. It's not big and it's not clever, but the tunes are good. Songs with expletives in the lyrics (not necessarily in the title). It can be a single utterance or a blue tirade (though, with one glorious exception, I tend towards the one-off). - Fishy Jim
175. Songs with US state names in the title - let's hear your Californias, Hawaiis, Idahos etc. - Rob
176. Sample Example - Tracks that sample other songs - Helen
177. 'One Album Wonders - Round 2' - Same rules as before, but noms can be selected from albums released upto 5 years ago. Any one off solo albums produced by now defunct Artists/Bands - EP's, singles, Live albums, Comps also produced by the artist/band are irrelevant, but noms must come from the sole album itself. - theDuke
178. Toys, general or specified, in the title or artist's name - Brass Neck
179. 'Say I'm Your No.1' - your favourite song which topped the nation's (BBC, of course) charts. simple as.......- tech
Here's the link to nom new themes for Round 9, keep 'em coming...please!:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello folks... another Sunday, another new round commences. We're almost finished with the Round 8 themes, so I've now added Round 9 to the OP...so ya can get your noms lined for 'em when they come round.
Nothing much to report..but 'D-Day' for my caratact op is encroaching ever closer, just 10 days to go...I'm starting to get the heebie jeebies! I was never comfortable being in hospitals at the best of times, but this will be my first encounter with a private hosp..I wonder what that'll be like? I shall be awake for the op, so it'll be a quick in out job, but the idea of a surgeon opening my eye...and I'll sort of 'see' that happening...doesn't sit easy with me Anybody who's seen 'that' scene in the dreadfully acted 1970's movie 'They Call Her One Eye' (aka Thriller - A Cruel Picture), starring the lovely Christina Lindberg....might understand what I'm on about!
For those that haven't seen the movie, don't bother getting it..it's crap! I only bought it cos I had a crush on Lindberg!! ;-D
Anyway..getting back to music....time to focus our ears on Derek's theme now; 'Strictly Come Dancing - song title must include the name of a ballroom dance, e.g waltz, tango, cha-cha'.
As like the last theme..pretty straightforward, but direct your queries towards Derek...for clarity if you're not sure.
Noms in by Weds 10pm.
Have a super duper week folks...starting to warm up outside...I can turn me heating off at last...Spring's coming...."Huh?...What Spring?! :)
Toodooloo!
