message 24: by Chalmation (new)

Chalmation | 3730 comments I participated in my first one in January: the 24 in 48 readathon. I think I read for 10 hours. I even won a book.

message 25: by Chalmation (new)

Chalmation | 3730 comments I won a hardcover of The Woman in the Window, which I already had on my library wish list. I only read Kindle ebooks, but I think I might read the version I won, sometime this year.

I even added both versions of Rear Window to my Netflix queue, since the book is supposed to be similar.

message 28: by Agnieszka (last edited Mar 26, 2018 08:28AM) (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 824 comments I participated twice in the yearly two week Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon (has it's own group), several of the monthly 6 to 7 days RaTs (Crazy Challenge Connection & Badass Reading Challenges groups) though I never joined a 24-hour-RaT before.

It's too early for me know which of my many books will be still open in one month or stumble onto my TBR by than :-) Most of my books are for one of my many challenges or depending on my mood *grins*

message 29: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) Kristin wrote: "Updated through Message 33. Welcome!

Who here has participated in a readathon before and for whom will this be your first time? Any readathon plans yet (TBR pile, game plan, etc)?"

I participated in the last 24in48 readathon. I plan on reading some for work (not looking forward to it) and some for fun. After each 3-4 hours of reading for work I get to read for fun (probably His Dark Materials since I haven't been able to pick up those books from my library before my holiday, so will read all of them after I get back).

message 30: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) Dlyn wrote: "Possible titles I am *considering* for the read-a-thon ...

Looks like it's going to be a great readathon for you Dlyn!

message 31: by Winter, Group Reads (new)

Winter (winter9) | 4998 comments So unfortunately this is the same weekend as my mother celebrates her 60 year birthday. We are probably going to have visits and I have to bake two cakes, but I want to try for three hours, one hour a day. Wish I could read more, we will see how this goes.

Thank you! You just reminded me that this is a weekend I am traveling to visit an out of state cousin! I'm probably only going to be able to read for 3 or 4 hours too.

message 33: by Brittany (last edited Apr 26, 2018 04:59PM) (new)

Brittany | 804 comments I'm in for 12 hours hopefully! I've never done a readathon before although I have wanted to. No clue yet what I will read.

There's a good chance I will read more than 12 hours with audiobook time but I leave it at that for now.
My attempted reading list, subject to change on a whim:

I will finish listening to Lock In (Lock In, #1) by John Scalzi

Intend to read from the following: Library Wars Love & War, Vol. 2 (Library Wars Love & War #2) by Kiiro Yumi Library Wars Love & War, Vol. 3 (Library Wars Love & War #3) by Kiiro Yumi Cast in Flame (Chronicles of Elantra, #10) by Michelle Sagara The Last Piece of My Heart by Paige Toon Taste of Darkness (Healer, #3) by Maria V. Snyder The Final Empire (Mistborn, #1) by Brandon Sanderson Furiously Happy A Funny Book About Horrible Things by Jenny Lawson

Never done a readathon before but most weekends, I'm reading all day Saturday/Sunday. My plan is to finish a book from my TBR pile that I can include in as many group challenges as possible.

message 37: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (sharint) | 749 comments I'm going to try for 10 hours, I will have a friend in town for part of the weekend but we'll see how much I am able to read.

message 38: by Janine (new)

Janine | 1548 comments What a fun idea to choose a number of hours rather than pages/books. The Friday and Saturday are a bit busy for me (Friday is my birthday, Saturday is international tabletop day - I will be in a bookstore until 3am, just playing boardgames instead of reading!)

I'll sign up for a conservative 6 hours.

message 47: by [deleted user] (last edited Apr 04, 2018 06:12AM) (new)

As I don’t know what I’ll be doing on this weekend I’d want to set my goal to 6 hours of reading, two for each day. This is also my first readathon so I’m very excited!

message 48: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Peterson | 117 comments Kristin,

I’ll be visiting the Big Island! My grandparents live there so I’ll be staying with them. This is my second time visiting that island but I’ve also done Oahu before. My mom grew up on Oahu :)

message 49: by Janneke (new)

Janneke Curiston 16 hours. We'll see how far I get. So dividing that logically would be five hours and 20 min every day. Seems doable as my break starts then so I can do my school work later that break.

message 50: by Ketty (new)

Ketty (kettlekinsreads) That's the weekend of my anniversary so I think I will be asking for work off. I will go for sixteen hours. I think I can do a lot of reading that Friday.
