Dev walked down the path with Rex's leash in his left hand and Hannah on his right. The little dog kept looking back at him as if the make sure he was still there.
Cassie scurried beside Hannah while they walked, hurrying to keep up with the long strides. Hannah found herself looking at their surroundings with a new perspective. It was close to her cabin, which was nice, but it would still take getting used to.
'It's always a good idea, especially for survival,' Dev told her. 'Knowing the area could save your life, or at least keep you from breaking your leg because you missed the ditch.'
Hannah frowned slightly, mostly because she hadn't ever thought about that. Maybe that was how she'd gotten him killed... 'I guess that's true.'
'But that's only if you expect something to happen,' he said with a shrug. 'I was just trained to notice danger before it happened.'

'I should be cautious though,' she signed. 'I'm bad at that, which might be why I get into so much trouble.'
'You're the one who made it bad. I was laughing because you are the most innocent creature I know,' he told her.
She blushed a little, embarrassed. Sure she was innocent, but she wasn't sure if he thought it was a good thing or not.

'I am,' she answered, nodding. 'I'm much better, thank you. I wouldn't have been as good without you.'
'Well both,' she admitted. 'I didn't want to be with him, but I finally had the courage to actually break it off.'
'With what?' Hannah asked, not sure if they were still on the topic of relationship issues, or if he had jumped topics without her.
She looked at him, a little confused. Maybe he hadn't understood what she had been referring to in the beginning, or maybe she'd just gotten lost somewhere along the way. But either way, she was fairly sure this was more than just a second chance.
He was talking more about himself, being given a second chance at life but he felt like he was being to confusing.
Deciding to change the subject, Hannah took a deep breath before signing. 'Have you decorated the inside at all?'
"I left it all the way it was. I'm sure I could add something here or there. This is it," he said gesturing to the house up the small hill.
A thought occurred to her, somehow spontaneously, making a small smile appear on her face but she wasn't going to tell him what it was. 'You should decorate just a little bit, personalize it.'
She gave him a smile and nodded. Sure she would like to help, even if she wasn't so good at the whole self expression thing herself in terms of decorating.
The door was unlocked and everything inside was fairly simple and rustic. Rex sniffed around curiously, throwing caution to the wind.
Hannah sniffed around as well, figuratively. This place...as much as she hated to say it...really suited him. And it gave her a good formulation for her idea.
'Good. White said that it was for one person but it almost feels too big,' he laughed. 'You could stay with me if you want. Whenever you walk the dogs.'
He was feeling more like himself now that he was with her and his confusing dialogue and thoughts seemed to be righting themselves.
'Did everything go alright with your brother?'
'Did everything go alright with your brother?'
'Maybe because I was out of my body for so long. It's hard to put things where they go. It's why I'm.... different,' Dev told her.
Hannah took a few seconds to process that, and kept her eyes on the two dogs the whole time. 'I don't think you're that much different.'
'Well, you're a little different, but it's not enough for me to say you've changed or anything,' she replied.
'Well, you're a lot bolder than you used to be, I think. Not a bad thing though,' Hannah signed and moved over to sit with him.
He tilted his head. "I guess that comes with watching everything for so long. I'm not as stiff when it comes to the rules."
