I enjoyed Ben Macintyre's The Spy and the Traitor: The Greatest Espionage Story of the Cold War tremendously so I was eager to read his other books. 
A Spy Among Friends: Kim Philby and the Great Betrayal felt differently as it wasn't a straight up biography. This was more of an ensemble story to show the impact of betrayal -- Philby's betrayal of country, friends, and wives. My review - www.goodreads.com/review/show/3896919341

I quite liked C.V. Chauhan's brand new Detective Inspector Rohan Sharma from the Leicestershire Police. Both Chauhan and his detective are of South Asian descent, which gives Sharma a bit of an advantage with some migrant families. The Dance of Death is the first in a new series that looks promising.

A WESTERN VERSION OF THOMPSON'S SAVAGE NIGHTArnold Hano was Thompson’s editor at Lion Books. The Killer Inside Me and Cropper’s Cabin were written from plot synopsis Lion provided. But Hano allowed Thompson full exercise of his unique skill. There was mutual respect. Hano dedicated Flint (1957) to Thompson, “Who wrote this story first and wrote it best, and then gave me permission to write my own version.” He didn’t say which story, but it’s clearly Savage Night (1953), although Hano may be alluding to The Killer Inside Me in describing Flint’s confrontation with a father who humiliated him.

How appropriate that this mystery has two titles: Crossing the Lines, and After She Wrote Him. Aussie author Sulari Gentill is a favourite of mine, and I loved her unique, twisty, psychological invention!
