Sean Peters | -177 comments The Mark (Henry Parker #1) by Jason Pinter

Right as I'm about to die, I realize all the myths are fake. There's no white light at the end of a
tunnel. My life isn't flashing before my eyes

All I can think about is how much I want to live !

I moved to New York City a month ago to become the best journalist the world had ever seen. To find the greatest stories never told. And now here I am—Henry Parker, twenty-four years old and weary beyond rational thought, a bullet one trigger pull from ending my life. I can't run. Running is all Amanda and I have done for the past seventy-two hours. And I'm tired. Tired of knowing the truth and not being able to tell it.

I knew that both of these men—one an FBI agent, the other an assassin—wanted me dead, but for very different reasons!

Wow, my first book by this author and this is his debut author with a great character in Henry Parker, and a terrific story, no wonder this book has been optioned as a feature film.

I find this to be a great paced action thriller that's keeps you guessing all the way, a great page turner, gripping and realistic. Not quite the life Henry Parker wanted to start his reporter job at the
New York Gazette.

His only ally an unsuspecting NYU coed Amanda a woman he was just hitching a ride from but she seems to believe his story and wants to help. So now they are both on the run from a policeman who wants revenge and a hitman who wants the package that Henry doesn't have, while trying to figure out how he became wanted by the NYPD, the FBI and the mob.

So nearly a five star book, gripping, fast paced, action packed, great twists an explosive last few chapters, will make a great film.

Ready for number 2 !

I was planning to read more Southern Gothic novels with memorable characters and great writing, looks like this one will be worth checking out.

message 623: by Carol (new)

Carol (carolfromnc) I finished A Whisper to the Living by Stuart M. Kaminsky, the last and 16th in his Inspecter Porfiry series, but my first read of a Kaminsky novel. The first two thirds were fine — not inspired but workmanlike and a great job of integrating three story lines and a dozen or so characters. The last third and the ending, though, were well done. A few annoying errors in terms of Russian names and culture, suggestive of either sloppy research or editing, but they don’t impact the story. I’ll look to find perhaps the 4th or 5th in the series (in my experience often the high point for mystery and detective series) soon.

I thought so. I don't give a lot of books 5 stars but this one earned it.

Now listening to Death of an Outsider by M.C. Beaton Death of an Outsider by M.C. Beaton - the reader, Shaun Grindell is absolutely terrific. He’s the narrator for most of this series. I read the first two books on my tablet but for the rest of the series, I’ll listen to Shaun’s wonderful voice on audio.

R.D. Murray | 1 comments Can’t believe this happened to me. Help me out people. So I noticed I got a bad review on my debut book, after I posted my picture. Proud to be a black author. I am not upset about bad reviews we all think different, we all like different things that is fine, but he started posting and pasting the same comment all over the internet where ever my book was at. He also gives away parts of my book. Which is a surprise ending mystery suspense thriller. He also has giving over 200 hundred comments all good. But mines he had to try and destroy my book. All after I posted a picture of my self. I have all great reviews except his one. Once again I don’t care about bad reviews but the way he has done by racial, harassing and spoiling parts of the book is just wrong. We need to stop trying to hurt others for no reason. Whether skin color, different culture, height, weight whatever. I am a black author and I’m proud and I will keep pushing. My book is called -My Dead Blue Caterpillar.

Aditya | 1893 comments @Rasheed This is not the forum for your issue. Contact GR admins if you think this has actually happened. Just 2 things I noticed
1. Lots of people post their reviews on multiple sites including Goodreads and Amazon. That in itself is not an example of anyone waging a smear campaign.
2. Your book has 7 ratings, if you start playing the race card the first time you get a bad review, it will be very difficult to take you seriously. 7 reviews is simply not a big enough sample size to proclaim your book has got universally positive reviews and anyone being the outlier is racially motivated.

Once again if you are convinced you have been harassed because of race please contact relevant moderators.
