I too felt it was one of her better ones but it is unfortunately getting a lot of mixed reviews in GR.

message 723: by MadProfessah (new)

MadProfessah (madprofesssah) | 44 comments @aditya yes i noticed that THE WITCH ELM is having low GR ratings but it actually helped me because I went in with low expectations were exceeded once the body shows up. One issue is that doesn’t happen until 1/3 of the way into the book.

Same here I thought this would be self indulgent as French sometimes has a tendency to be but was pleasantly surprised with how good the main storyline was.

Cherie (chilly25) | 7 comments I am in the final part of Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara. This is true crime but the writing is so compelling, it has moved along like the best fiction. I am sad to know that McNamara died before she ever knew the identity of the killer she chased so long.

Hope you enjoyed this book. I always start by thinking that the Peters books are awfully silly but I end up having a fun time reading them anyway. She definitely grows on you if you give her time.

Sounds interesting, Marwan. If I can get caught up on my stash (big if), I'd like to add some of Ira Levin's books. I read The Boys from Brazil long ago but nothing else.

I've always enjoyed Burke's books but got a little tired of them so am taking a break. I also gave Last Car four stars.
