John Hoda | 2 comments I don't know which Scudder novel I started with, but I loved it so much I went and bought eh entire back list. Lawrence Block is my favorite author. You should try Enough Rope if you want to see a master at work in the short story format

I don't know which Scudder novel I started with, but I loved it so much I went and bought eh entire back list. Lawrence Block is my favorite author. You should try Enough Rope if you want to see a master at work in the short story format

I saw that Block had won a few awards for his short stories so thanks for the suggestion. I have got his Scudder series, considering starting his Bernie series too.

Stick with the series. It gets better. Block is an excellent writer.

And Then There Were None is so clever that I can't imagine anyone figured it out.

Glad you enjoyed this Patty! If you decide to read other books I don't think you have to worry about reading series in order. At least that was my experience with Hercule Poirot. There may be a reference to a previous case but it doesn't detract from the current story. A couple of my favorites ... The Murder of Roger Ackroyd and The A.B.C. Murders
