I don't know which Scudder novel I started with, but I loved it so much I went and bought eh entire back list. Lawrence Block is my favorite author. You should try Enough Rope if you want to see a master at work in the short story format

I saw that Block had won a few awards for his short stories so thanks for the suggestion. I have got his Scudder series, considering starting his Bernie series too.

Stick with the series. It gets better. Block is an excellent writer.

I am still reading Saving Max by Antoinette van Heugten and The Circular Staircase by Mary Roberts Rinehart.

I Love this Series

Of all of these books Look For Me and The Woman in the window was the best out of all these i read in last 3 weeks
I'm currently reading The Innocence of Father Brown, The Divine Comedy, and started Let Me Lie yesterday. I think Let Me Lie will be a fast read.

And Then There Were None is so clever that I can't imagine anyone figured it out.

Glad you enjoyed this Patty! If you decide to read other books I don't think you have to worry about reading series in order. At least that was my experience with Hercule Poirot. There may be a reference to a previous case but it doesn't detract from the current story. A couple of my favorites ... The Murder of Roger Ackroyd and The A.B.C. Murders

I finished Saving Max by Antoinette van Heugten yesterday, but haven't written a review.
I am starting to read The Monkey's Raincoat by Robert Crais which is the first in the Elvis Cole series. I am also starting The Man in Lower Ten by Mary Roberts Rinehart, Cathedral by Nelson DeMille and The Firefly by P.T. Deutermann.
