We open up Round 9 with Tim's theme - 'The Nurse With Wound List'.

I haven't yet looked into this myself or the list (cos I completely forgot about it..sorry Tim!), so I'll just repost Tim's nomination post, as there's a fair bit to take in.

'The Nurse With Wound List'

"On the first two Nurse albums appeared this list of artists, said to have been influences on the group (as it was in the beginning). Mr Stapleton later claimed some didn't even exist, but research seems to suggest all in fact, did.

The albums included are merely suggested. You don't have to stick with them; anything by that artist is ok. Nothing from the 'Related' or 'More' sections please. Right, I'm kicking off. I did my homework on this theme a while back. The list is rather daunting but one name leaped off the page at me - Plastic People of the Universe - because I remember them from the great Tom Stoppard play "Rock 'n' Roll"about the suppression of rock music in Czechoslovakia and its role in the uprising against communist rule. I was thinking of going with Lemon Kittens. I did own We Buy A Hammer For Daddy on CD, briefly (great title!), but just couldn't get into it (even though I'm a fan of Danielle Dax and Shock Headed Peters). It's either something off Big Dentist by them, Gong, Zappa, Soft machine or Tangerine Dream... I'll get back to you.

I haven't had my turn to be Simon Cowell yet Duke, I am doing the second semi final, we are still at the heat rounds.
I have posted a song from each band so far on my other youtube page. Some of them are a bit rough round the edges, but there is real potential in some of them too, have a look, see what you think (and bear in mind, we are looking for a band to play at a metal festival, none of this half-baked poncey stuff).

Enjoyed that loads. I had a quandary here - if I give points to songs I already know and love (looking at you especially, Sister Ray!), it's going to push out the deserving others. So, after mulling things over I decided to exclude all those - VU, Chrome, James White, Red Crayola - sorry guys! Still could have used many more points.

It's funny that the Kittens owe their place on the list almost entirely to John Fothergill's obsession (love/lust) for Danielle Dax, which went unrequited as she was with Karl Blake at the time!

yes, well done the winners! as i say, if k.j. had put forward the radar flexidisc version (streamies all over the original!) he'd have won by more! voted for all the winners, so all good - i'd definitely be in favour of a re-match, so many directions to go in, but to paraphrase h.s.t, 'it never got weird enough for me!' :)

That flexi disc was given away with Zig Zag magazine and also had a track by The 13th Floor Elevators on it.I am sure NWW would have been more influenced by the free form tracks of Red Crayola.
