Invisibility

I've read up to page 81. By this point in the novel I've developed a decent understanding of the main character but still struggle slightly with his perception of himself, and his definition of invisibility after saying that he is an invisible man. I understand that he feels like this in part because he is black but there's more to it because he says that it's not just about the color of his skin ("Nor is my invisibility exactly a matter of a biochemical accident to my epidermis" (p.3)). What do you think about invisibility and how that concept, as we know it, can be compared to the narrator's perception of it in order to help add to our understanding of the text? And how does this all tie into the theme of identity?
