WALWAB: What would your VR space look like?

I'd have a few options. Rivendell for one. A house with an infinite library and secret passages for another. No beach for me, but the woods would be nice.

I agree. Like my computer wallpaper I would change it frequently.

John sheepishly looks at desktop wallpaper that has been the same for ten years, then guiltily glances at goodreads avatar that has been the same since he started on the site.
John: Naaaa
End Scene.
Man I admire all those that choose to be creative in that way, but as I get older I realize I'm much more becoming an "If it aint broke, don't fix it" type of guy.

I don't change avatars but my wallpaper is usually family photos and I rotate it about once a month. It's like my personal (and cheap) photo frame. ;)
I use the slideshow option for my wallpapers. I have 3 monitors so each one has a different wallpaper. I don't think I've added a new wallpaper to the rotation for a few years though.
I do like the inception idea. Like a door in Rivendell would lead to my next VR setting, etc.

My compromise would be to go a bit Riker. The NextGen Enterprise has got to be one of the most comfortable places to command a starship, and I’m so used to thinking about it that going for a walk in the forest via the Holodeck would cause little to no mental issues.
Of course I’d include a version of Dublin’s Trinity College Library as my reading room, accessible via turbolift - I'd just add in some bean bags and have Jeeves on hand with a supply of tea, that's my idea of heaven :-)

It's an amazing library (I visited it to see the Book of Kells and fell in bookish love with it - all those old books smell of heaven), but was blown away when Attack of the Clones ...er...cloned it as the Jedi Archives.

I like places that can simulate the real feeling of a place, so walking THROUGH a meadow or sitting IN a thunderstorm or floating ON a cloud or taking a train ride. Something active that isn't necessarily active in real life. And a central social place with repeat people I can chat to when I'm in the mood.

I find that surprising, as that particular detail in the book briefly broke my suspension of disbelief. My darling Tilly (a cat) passed away last year, and the thought of trying to recreate her in VR is an upsetting one. A VR cat I could see being wonderful, but not an imitation of a beloved animal that has passed away. It would break my heart.
Since I can never make my mind up, I expect any VR world I created would be a mixed up clutter of all kinds of things I like or think are cool, old fashioned and ultra modern all blurred into one. It would be a total mess!

See, the way I think of it is... I'm dead and they're dead so we're both simulations and it's not sad, haha.

Hmm. although speaking of scenery, if I had to pick one, I wonder what the Playboy mansion grotto looks like...

This got me thinking about my favorite ships, I hope you don't mind if I share:
Best Ship Name: The Silver Wings of Morning from House of Suns (to be frank the Silver Wings was so huge it could probably carry most other ships in its hold, but that feels a tad excessive)
Favourite Ship’s AI: Arthur from Legend of Orin (I don't care what the nay-sayers say, I love that movie, the fact that I watched it at age 7 may have something to do with it)
Coolest Looking Ship: The Mimbari Sharlin Cruiser from Babylon 5
Most Comfy Ship: The Enterprise from Star Trek TNG (it’s got a holodeck and can produce tea as if by magic, need I say more?)
So I guess my ideal would be a Sharlin Cruiser called Silver Wings, piloted by Arthur the AI and fitted out with a holodeck and an infinite supply of tea.
I don’t want much from life really...

Who was the Bob who made his VR floating on top of peasants ? That was rather funny.

It also wouldn't take me very long to start exploring non-human avatars.
Mine would probably be a nice house on a secluded beach. Warm water. Cozy living room with a nice chair. Books all over the walls. And I would definitely re-create my cats.
What about you guys?
