In Hungarian the translator changed house names as well as names of characters and some wild beasts considerably, though I have to say he did it very well & managed to convey the meaning for readers in HU.

Hogwarts became Roxfort (as most HU readers would associate it with Oxford)
Severus Snape became Perselus Piton, etc....

I was lucky enough that they kept House names and character names, but all other names etc. were changed.

I really didn't like how they translated Hogwarts into Estonian, so it was Sigatüügas. I always read school name as Hogwarts.

That's really interested the different house names for different languages. I guess there is not one good way to translate the names! LOL

I believe the spanish editions to be pretty good.

In spanish they didn't change the names of the houses, Hogwarts, spells or characters.

The only things they changed were Tom Marvolo Riddle's name, it change to Tom Sorvolo Ryddle in some editions, so it could spell
Soy Lord Voldemort in spanish.

And the mirror of Erised is called, Oesed (deseo is desire in spanish) and the thing it says in its frame (I show not your face but your heart's desire), of course, so it can be read in spanish too (Esto no es tu cara sino de tu corazón el deseo)

Kaley, that's my baby Lucy. She's a mutt and I have people swooning over her all the time. Literally, cars pulling over to compliment my pretty dog. I've contemplated how to get her into doggy modeling. Except she has no manners, hates other dogs and doesn't listen. Sooo, probably not a good idea.

I think it also depended on how they could fit you in with players of a similar timezone. ;)

Wow. I read Flitwich as Hufflepuff. They both have an F and a L in them. That's the only excuse i've got.
