✎ 1x1 ✐ discussion
It had been a long night; Mika had made the stupid decision of drinking a little too much with his friends at a little gettogether the previous night, and didn’t sleep until around three. Advil and sprite was what eventually garnered the motivation in him to get out of bed at show up at work.
He was showing up late, for his friend Jayce agreed to open today for his sake, so there was no need to fish the keys out from his pockets when he showed up at the door. It was an overcast, chilly day, so he was grateful to step inside to the warmth. Though he didn’t necessarily own the tattoo parlor, he was lined up with clients for the week because the cute local town was great with publicity.
Feeling his headache finally fading away, Mika walked over to the front counter and turned on his music, getting him in a better mood. He bobbed his head to the beat as he lipped the words occasionally, preparing himself for the day by cleaning the area, turning a couple more lights on.
“Look who showed up.”
Mika rolled his eyes at that. “Morning, J. Good to see you, too.”
Jayce rested his elbows on the counter and smiled to Mika. The boy was the only one younger than him at the place, and he probably had the most tattoos. “Afternoon, actually.” That got a dramatic eyeroll from Mika.
Mika’s tired head only shot up from behind the counter when he heard the small cute ding of the door over the music that he played, signifying that somebody had walked in or out. His first guy he’d be tattooing today had already come in a couple days ago to start his half-sleeve, and wanted to get it finished today with his wife’s favorite flower. Even wanted everybody’s favorite flower shop in town to have as a reference. Though it was extravagant, it was rather cute, and Mika couldn’t help but smile at it. He was looking forward to it. And unless a couple people came in asking for a small piece on them, he didn’t have much to do until then.
After around half an hour of mouthing a couple lyrics, occasional conversations with Jayce, and letting the time pass with his fading headache, the ding of the door was accompanied by an unfamiliar, gentle voice. It sounded rather silly to hear the comforting sound in the environment, much like the door chiming, though it was appreciated.
His head shot up yet again at the voice, and was greeted by an angel. Except taller.
Mika felt his cheeks accent a soft red when he realized he hadn’t replied yet, but that could be blamed on his mind still being in morning-mode. “Hi. Um, yeah, that’s right,” he said and managed to smile as he looked at the flowers and back up at the boy. His appearance was both intimidating and soft. He knew of the florist a few stores down, but had never gone in; never had reason to, anyway. “Thank you.”
Mika observed the features on the male’s face in front of him, absentmindedly at first. It was hard not to notice his hair first, it was near white and fell past his shoulders, contrasting Mika’s. Both intimidating and soft blue eyes looked to his, and a gentle smile caused his eyes to crinkle with happiness, as if inviting everyone who saw to smile, as well.
“Mika. Um, good to meet you,” he said and smiled sheepishly when he realized he was still looking over the male observantly, and he wasn’t even sure why he was entranced by him. He liked the way he presented himself and spoke, which was strange.
“No, I mean, sorry,” he stammered and the embarrassed smile on his face grew, glancing down at the counter before back to Dominic. He didn’t realize the color that had risen to his face. He liked the idea of stopping by the flower shop sometime, just to check it out, of course. He had never been there, anyway. He looked down at the card and grabbed it with a hand decorated in a few stick and pokes he gave himself in his high school years.
Mika watched the taller boy, almost admiringly, as he shook his head, hair moving with the motion. He crookedly smiled and shrugged, he felt that Dominic had nothing to be insecure about, he was too sweet. Hearing the compliment left the skin that was untouched by freckles on his cheeks to turn a light scarlet, and wished he had responded, but the boy was already walking out. “I’ll see you,” he said with a small wave, watching as he walked out. Did he just get his number, was that purposeful?
If it weren’t for Jayce, the interaction probably would’ve passed with hearing anything more about it. But the younger male raised an eyebrow and chuckled at Mika, leading to Mika flipping him off with a small smile.
He decided to actually get some work done prior to more people coming in, and took the bouquet of flowers carefully. He grabbed a piece of printer paper from under the counter and a pencil and began to get to work on the flowers on paper before he put it to skin later, a small smile on his face as he drew.
Getting entranced bythe pencil in his hand was a common occurrence of Mika’s whenever he worked on a new piece of art. His style was delicate, but detailed, and yet the lines that decorated the printer paper were distinct and simple. He finished the design in mind for the man who wanted the flowers, and he didn’t even realize that his mind began to wander, and before he knew it, small designs filled the page of crappy printer paper.
Some time had passed before Jayce snapped in front of Mika’s face, and chuckled as the artist jumped out of his thoughts. “Hey, Parker’s here,” he told Mika, causing him to look up from the doodles that now covered the paper. The man already had a half sleeve on his other arm of a forest, and it was evident that he was looking forward to his other one by the expression on his face. Mika smiled and welcomed him in again, stepping out from behind the counter and motioning for him to come in the back so he could start with the ink.
The day went by similar to the past few weeks at the shop: a few other people came in for the tattoos they already had planned, while some came in for small dainty ones just for the hell of it. Besides the flower design on Parker, he liked the small moth he made behind a college student’s ear most. When business slowed, he grabbed the bouquet of flowers that was behind the counter and placed them in a cup of water by his workspace. They’d wilt eventually, but they looked nice and felt like keeping them.
As his usual short walk home began at the end of his day, Mika passed by the other small local shops that the community went crazy over. An arcade/bar, frozen yogurt place, salon, and... the florist. He had nearly forgotten it by then, and he wished he hadn’t. He looked into the window of flowers and other greens, and could even see Dominic at the cafe. The angel. He smiled a bit and found himself hesitantly walking into the shop.
The store had customers, some wandering and some sitting at the cute cafe. Plants decorated the place, and it smelled like soil and flowers, as expected. He liked being around here in the chain of shops in town, the entire neighborhood was quite hipster and had a good vibe. His eyes flitted to focus on Dominic as he was talking with a young woman.
His gaze fixed on another young man who spoke to the angel from across the room before approaching him. “Good to meet you,” he said with a friendly smile, holding out his hand and shaking Ulqi’s, the contrast of designs in their hands looking almost goofy. He chuckled a little at the nickname he received. “Name’s Mika, Tatts can work, too, if you’d prefer.”
Dominic had found his way over to them after their brief introduction, and he found the excited expression on his face all too adorable. Was he really happy to see him? “I came,” he said, and the smile that bloomed on Dominic’s face led to Mika happily grinning. He didn’t regret stepping into the shop the moment he saw his face, and it was clear that they were happy to see eachother. He looked around the place before meeting his blue eyes again. “I love this.”
He felt a blush spread across his face at the other male’s wink to him before turning away, his platinum hair waving with his gentle step as he walked back behind the counter. “Will do,” he chirped as he ran a hand through his untamed hair. He turned to Ulqi and followed, his smile lingering. “The name Tatts is sticking, huh?” he said with a raise of his eyebrow as he was led to the table.
Another grin grew on his face at the sight of the cats, each one looking different from another. They seemed perfectly content i their place at the shop. “Hey, bud,” he said with a click on his tongue, carefully offering a tattooed hand to the cat closest to him to sniff. He sat down after a moment and glanced at the plants that surrounded him, and softly pet one cat’s head.
It wasn’t too long until the blonde haired beauty stepped back into the space with a warm and welcoming smile, and he wished he had met him weeks ago when he was just getting to know this neighborhood. But he was beyond happy he had met him now and nor afew more weeks or months or years. He beamed in reply, eyes crinkling, dimples showing, and all. “Hey, Im not complaining. These guys are pretty great,” he said, petting Bluebell for a moment before retreating his tattooed hand; his arm was immersed in tattoos: fading ones from high school in his hands and his more recent ones on his arms in sleeves. A couple were done by him, and a couple done by others. “Thank you.”
He glanced at the plate with a pastry on it, as well as the dainty cup of tea. He took a small bite of the cake, a questioning look on his face as he tasted the delight, before looking up to Dominic, who was patiently watching to see the reaction he received. “Why haven’t I had this any sooner?” he asked simply, rolling his eyes back dramatically to show his near swoon over the taste. It was amazing.
He returned to the dessert in front of him, though, as he listened to Dominic speak. “It’s amazing, honest,” he complimented as he took another bite. He thought about what he would’ve missed if he didn’t show up in the petite shop, it was all too cute and he only yearned for Dominic’s presence more. “Thank you.” He watched as the male’s eyes trailed over his sleeves, and began to blush. The question he asked, though, made him smile. “Um, yeah, of course,” he said quickly after a moment, and took his jacket off that his most of the ink before leaning closer to Dominic. His arms were decorated with designs, geometric and floral and meaningful symbols and all. He was thin, not necessarily muscular nor scrawny.
“Thank you,” he said, his smile even evident in his voice. He remembered not doing well in any other classes besides the art classes in high school, even did a couple college classes until he decided what he wanted to do with his life. By senior year of high school, he already had a half sleeve on one arm. He crookedly smiled and shrugged. “Just finished my apprenticeship, actually. That’s what wounded me up here,” he explained simply, meeting his eyes for a moment before looking around at the store.
And before he knew it, he was closer again. And touch. He crookedly smiled at that, and tilted his head to try and appear taller than Dominic, though that wasn’t achievable, and bit his lip to keep himself from grinning. “How so?” he said plainly regarding his ‘adorable ways’, trying to rid any emotion from his voice despite the feelings he felt.
His breath hitched as the other male leaned closer and before he knew it, there was touch. Gentle, slow, but certain touch. His chest tightened as Dominic traced his jaw with his lips before pulling back. He nodded. “Intrigued,” he said softly with another confirming nod, a soft smile now on his face as he looked up to meet his gray blue eyes.
Mika’s night was uneventful, the only thing he did before going to bed was reading up on plants, he was so curious now, now that he had met Dominic. Not to mention that he should probably know some symbolic meanings behind them if he wanted to get s couple questions right if that offer was still happening between them. He fell asleep, and that was that.
The next morning, Mika stirred a little in his sleep before finally waking up to the light in the room. After glancing at the time for a moment, he realized he had to hustle to get to work. So after changing, throwing a jacket over his sleeves, grabbing a granola bar, and slipping on a pair of shoes, he was out the door. He hoped to see Dominic again, he decided that he would visit the shop in the middle of the day when he didn’t have much going on.
The ding of a small bell signified his presence when he walked in after unlocking the doors. He was opening up this morning, but of course Jayce and a few of the guys who focused on piercings would be in soon. He grabbed the small notebook that was their schedule and flipped through it to see any clients that were there. Though he wasn’t too concentrated on it, because he had to read it a couple times simply to get the information he wanted.
“Dominic, huh?” Jayce asked with a quirk of his eyebrow, causing Mika to jump when he realized he had came in.
Mika’s face reddened at that. “What do you mean?” he asked.
Jayce rolled his eyes and stood next to him, taking a piece of the granola bar sitting on the counter. “You we’re infatuated with him yesterday. I assumed you stopped by the florist’s place again.”
Jayce laughed and pushed his shoulder as he walked by to look at the schedule as well. “Didn’t know you swung that way, but it’s kinda sweet.”
Mika turned his head curiously. “What do you mean?” But the answer was cut short by the sight of an angel in the window, beaming as he walked into the parlor.
“hyacinth!” he greeted, his grin spreading across his face immediately. He walked over from behind the counter to greet him and nearly wrapped his arms around him right then, but caught himself. He realized the nickname he attempted and sighed dramatically.“Ignore I said that, not as good as a nickname that I thought.” He mumbled with a disapproving shake of his head to himself. He looked back up to Dominic hopefully. “Some snacks? I didn’t get you shit, you’re too sweet.” The smile reappeared in his face almost immediately.
((sorry for the long wait on the reply!))
Mika grinned happily as he was pulled into an embrace upon seeing the other male again. Never did he think he would feel so strongly to a person. “Thank you,” he said quietly, almost inclined to kiss him right then. But he couldn’t, of course. Did he himself even swing that way? He saw a wick that was lit in Dominic’s eyes upon seeing him, a contrast from the rest of his soft, gentle face that he had already grown accustomed to see, and loved it every time.
He set the bag down carefully I the counter and dramatically rolled his eyes at his next words. “I know, I know. But hey, I tried! Clearly doesn’t come as easy for me regarding nicknames,” he insisted with a goofy smile of his own, unable to help his happy expression and he wish he had control over it.
The bouquet in his hand was beautiful, and he didn’t expect it to be given to him, it caught him so offguard. He bit his lip to suppress his smile from growing as he carefully took the bouquet when presented to him.“I love it,” he mumbled, his fingers carefully brushing over the bouquet fondly. The acacia blossoms especially, he had an acacia tattooed on his bicep, nearly hidden in the crowd of all other tattoos. Already being so close to Dominic, he wrapped his arms back around him in a hug of thanks. “Why’d you get me this?” he looked up and smiled crookedly.
Mika tilted his head at the mention of his memory, thinking about what he could have forgot. And he almost had it on his tongue when he felt a hand on him, slowly on his hip. His breath hitched, to his embarrassment, and a strong flush arose back onto his face. His thoughts immediately went to Dominic and their closeness the moment it had started. And when his lips touched his skin again since last night? That had to top it all off.
He shivered at his voice, and his fluster caused him to not say too much. He had forgotten about the bet, and here he was, barely anything to know about flowers. And all he could think about was the greenhouse yesterday. He nodded a bit. “Right,” he mumbled, feeling as if his face wasn’t working right anymore because he almost couldn’t function around Dominic, he realized.
Jayce watched the encounter for a moment, blatantly amused by it all. He nearly said something to acknowledge it but bit his tongue to keep himself. He then headed into the backroom connected to the main area to prep for a client.
“What? Oh, um yeah, course I am,” he said quickly, trying to compose of himself now. He straightened and looked up to Dominic fondly, and mustered a crooked smile. “I agree, with the tortuous part.”
His crooked smile only remained on Mika’s face as he remained in their closeness, and he wished it could last forever. But of course, they both had to deal with their ships for the time being. It was still morning, but now he had to wait until afternoon before seeing him again. At least the flowers would remind him. “Yeah.” He bit the inside of his cheek and nodded. That would be what would get him through his day at work. He didn’t want to leave the touch, the flirts, everything. But that’s how it had to be for now. “I’ll see you,” he said after him as he turned around and left the shop. He debated running after him, wrapping his arms around him and talk to him about both everything and nothing. But he bit back on doing so, Dominic’s words being just enough to hold him back for now. Later.
Jayce raised his eyebrow suggestively when Mika returned beside him. “Greenhouse later, huh?” he said with a laugh. “And I’m snagging one of the cupcakes, don’t think Im not.”
Mika was already flushed, but that only made his cheeks even more pink.“Shut the fuck up,” he said and flipped him off. Jayce only laughed and showed off his own finger as well, and the two continued to prep for the day.
((we can skip to dominic’s shop now if you’d like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ))
Noon struck and with a quick wave to Jayce and Tori, one of the piercing girls, he quickly made his way down the street to the flower shop. The birds cooing outside was a huge difference from the strong music from inside the shop. He crossed the street and looked through the window of flowers and plants to look for Dominic before entering the place, smiling to Ulqi upon seeing him. “Hey, Ulqi,” he said, looking around the place he had gotten to know yesterday whilst he fidgeted with his inked hands.
His eyes brightened. “Ah, so you know about the bet?” he asked, the cute smile on his face turning into a smirk. The expression of confidence faltered on his face, though, when Ulqi continues. A heavy blush was plastered on his face. He knew of a lot of plants, but now he couldn’t think of one off the top of his head. “I, uh, I think. I don’t know,” he said, already getting flustered again even though he hadn’t even seen Dominic yet.
Mika turned a darker shade of red as Ulqi continued, not sure if he wanted him to stop or to keep talking. Trouble? He wasn’t even sure if he could believe that, never mind should. “Yeah, okay,” he played it off casually and rolled his eyes, thiughhis fluster was evident on his cheeks and didn’t seem like it would be going away anytime soon when he began stepping in the back to see the male he couldn’t stop thinking about. “Thanks, Ulqi.” He dipped into the kitchen where he was beckoned to.
“Heaven sent,” he greeted him with a small smile, leaning against the doorway as he watched him as he seemed to be immersed in his cooking. He didn’t know why his interest towards the boy was so strong, and in a day’s time? It was evident that Dominic felt something similar, too. He couldn’t get over his platinum hair, his welcoming eyes, his lips whenever he spoke, and his taller stature. It was so much better to be in the presence of Dominic, though, rather than thinking of him.
((sorry it’s short, ap exam today!!))
-mika could actually still be living with his father but lied about it because he’s somewhat embarrassed
-drunk cuteness
-tatt00s at one point would be cute af
-idk maybe supernatural?? i’ve never done anything like that but thought it could be cool))
Mika decided to ignore what he was feeling, for now at least. The urge to kiss him was beyond a day of knowing him, and he wasn’t sure how or why. He shook his head out of his thoughts and smiled sheepishly when he realized he hadn’t responded. He blushed and nodded, grabbing the plate as he carefully made his way back to the greenhouse, where he gladly spent his evening the previous day. It was stil lgorgeous, and yet his eyes managed to take in all new details with each plants. He even began to mentally name the flowers around him by the time Dominic return. His wild blush only returned and he looked down to his his flustered a moment. “Says you,” he mumbled, flushed like a tomato.
Mika’s sheepish smile only grew at the acknowledgement of his face that was driving him crazy. His pink freckled cheeks began to calm down some as he sat down across from Dominic, still smiling like some kid. The flowers were all around him and practically framing Dominic when he sat as well, and it was all too cute. He didn’t know how or why he felt so strongly towards the florist, but he did, and here they were. “I’ll have you know that I especially love champagne,” he assured with a cute smile, and he assumed he would like the meal Dominic prepared. It smelled nice, that was for sure.
Mika watched with a n amused look as Dominic poured the champagne, and once he sat, he raised his glass and offered it to the florist’s. “Cheers,” he said quietly as a blush arose back onto his face. Maybe more. He took a sip before glancing at the food and taking a bite, closing his eyes and dramatically groaning. “Dominic, it’s amazing,” he said with a wide smile. “Thank you so much. I didn’t think I’d have something like this tonight.”
((sorry it’s short!))
“I just wish I’d have shown up with something in my hands,” he said and shrugged. Maybe he wouldn’t truly admit it just yet, but he was serious about Dominic, despite the many confusing but positive feelings that surrounded the florist in his mind. He was working on something, however, that he would want to give to him some time, though it wasn’t nearly as grand as a dinner, he thought.
He blushed, though his eyes lit up at the sound of their little game they were playing. “I may have,” he dared to say with a raise of his eyebrow. The bouquet was sitting perfectly in a vase at his desk at the shop, and he recalled the flowers within it. He hadn’t done studying throughout the day, but he was fairly confident based on some of his studying the previous night. “Acacias, yes?” he asked, looking up to meet Dominic’s eyes so he could clarify. He subtly then turned his arm to reveal the blossom of ink on his wrist, surrounded by a few branches. “Purity. Then tulips, which are romance, right? And either....either camellias or poseys.”
