Kate (kathrynlouwca) Do you have questions or need clarification? Here is where you can ask!

Catsbooksandcoffee | 20 comments Will there be a tread where we update our progress in the scavenger hunt? Or do we just comment on the post with the challenges?

Kate (kathrynlouwca) This is an entire group challenge. Gabby and I will be starting individual threads for each Scavenger Hunt category and you'll add your book the the relevant categories. Your book can count for multiple categories. I hope that makes sense.

Catsbooksandcoffee | 20 comments It does - thank you :-)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 350 comments So excited for this scavenger hunt :)

I have a few questions:

Would the Penguin little black classics count as a book series? For example, The Beautifull Cassandra.

Is The Price Guide to the Occult 50% green?

Does the author ABC include the author's first name or last name?

And can we discount the first word if it is 'the' for the Title ABC? For example use The Beautifull Cassandra for the letter B, instead of the letter T.

Thank you :)

Kate (kathrynlouwca) Hi Dannii -
Those are a bunch of really great questions. Because we like to be easy going around here, I am going to say that if you think it counts for color, then it works. And since that title only had two colors, I think it works.

For books in a series, I am going to say no only because it isn't listed on a series here on goodreads. If you find it listed on a series in goodreads, then it will count. I hope that makes sense. However, that book will work for short stories. And if you're the first person to finish a book set in England, it will work for that too. Probably others that just aren't coming to the top of my head.

For ABC's - Sure, first and / or last work. Some letters can be tricky so might as well make whatever fits count.

Yes, we can discount "the" or "a".

Sorry for the onslaught of questions but thank you so much for answering all of them :D

No problem at all :)

Thank you for that. The color interpretations being hotly argued have turned me off of cover hunt challenges in other groups. Ditzy things like if a blue-green color counts as teal, green or blue ...

Yeah, drives me insane too. I'm in a challenge where the cover is suppose to be like 85% blue or something like that. Do you know how hard it is to find a book that much of one color? We even have to verify it with a website (tineye). No thanks. I prefer to just guess at it.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) LOL, plus everyone's monitors and devices won't show the same exact same colors, , lots of indie authors seem to continuously change covers ...

Mary (maryarussell) | 11 comments Do we have to start and finish a book within readathon for it to count or can we start ahead and finish on readathon day for the scavenger hunt?

Kathryn has decided that at least 25% of the book must be read during the Readathon for the book to count. :)

Thank you! Lifesaver.

They can definitely be started before the readathon. If they are started but unfinished, then 25% should read. So if your book is 200 pages, you need to read 50.

Yes. It can qualify for as many categories as you can make it fit. Life of Pi also has over 100,000 ratings. Yann Martel was born in Spain. Lots of categories you can fit it into.

You can count it as Children's if you want.

I would consider it children's because it's closer to that than Teen.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) For being on the TBR pile, do preorders count? I put a book read for Readathon on my TBR when author announced available as preorder over a year ago. But hasn't even been published a year (Terminal Alliance published 11/2017).
