I think I would take
The Geography of You and Me ( a romance which I fell in love with )
Shatter Me ( a dystopian book which I loved )

My favourite books from my favourite genres :)

Marina (sonnenbarke) I would take:

Auto-da-Fé by Elias Canetti because it's my favorite book
On the Shortness of Life by Seneca because I would have to be reminded how short life (even on a deserted island!) is
Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino because it always gives me food for thought

Melody (scarlettoad) This is a tough one. You need to consider the size of the books, the genre of books, the variety of emotions the books elicit, and their re-readability. I could be on that island a really long time. Now, had the option been series, this would have been easier. Alas....
1. The Bible - I'm a Christian, so that seems like a given, but it's really a great choice for anyone. Besides the positive message that as a reader I would get to bring into my l life everyday, it also has many, many stories and many characters and does elicit a great deal of emotion. It's not a book that I could or would get bored with.
2. Complete Works of William Shakespeare - Much like the Bible, this would have hundreds of hours of reading and contemplating. Lots of emotional push and pull and I would have very little chance of getting bored.
3. Ender's Game - This is the one choice I'm not entirely sure of. For one, it's a short book and a quick read. Also, it's a sci-fi novel that is very focused on one character. Still, I have read this book a few times now and every time I feel like I learn something new. There is something about how the adults manipulate, Ender and his siblings learn to work the systems and just the sheer audacity of Card's choices in this book that constantly amazes me.

Melody (scarlettoad) Evangeline wrote: All books I haven't read, why be stuck on an island if not to expand my reading territory?"

Very good point. As long as you are pretty sure you are going to enjoy the books you do choose.

Lauri (otwlauri) | 48 comments Wow, that's a hard one...
Definitely new books by favorite authors. So:

All the Stars in the Heavens , Flame of Sevenwaters, Remarkable Creatures

All the Stars in the Heavens by Adriana Trigiani Flame of Sevenwaters (Sevenwaters, #6) by Juliet Marillier
Remarkable Creatures by Tracy Chevalier

But, of course, that's just how I'm feeling at this moment in time. I recently took 8 books with me on a 10-day vacation!
