Susan (jazzescrapper) | 2605 comments This challenge has me so confused. I am reading I just am so unsure what to do. I posted in the review thread and maybe I should have been posting over here instead.

I have so many questions. I think this is the first challenge that I kind of dislike :( I have never felt that way. It seems like everyone is doing the words and that is great but none of the books I am reading have the words in them(I am in another challenge which is dictating the books I am reading. I have been apart of this challenge for the last 3 or 4 months) anyway I have letters but it seems no one else is doing the letters.

I have the letter B & T the book was Tru Blue and the word in in line 6 "but" do I finish the word finding a book with a U or can someone else come along with their book that might have a U and finish off the word "but"? I don't have a book coming up with a U in it but on Sunday I get a new set of tasks and if it's up to me to finish the word I will find a book with U in the title

Katarzyna (katarzynamarie) | 113 comments Hi Susan!! I think you posted on the wrong team threads and team spreadsheet... I didn't recognize your name and looked at the team listings fearing that I might have missed you. It appears that you are on Team "Have You Seen Me" and not Team "Lady in Waiting". You might want to ask Sarah, just to confirm...

Congratulations on graduating, Emily!!! That is awesome!!! And no worries, I'm also pretty behind. May is just flying by! Just the other day I told myself it's time to really start working on getting these books knocked out, so now I'm almost done with the first and will be able to take on the second and third soon ;)

Katarzyna (katarzynamarie) | 113 comments Hey Everyone!! Sorry I'm running a bit behind schedule as well... Life has been really chaotic and I haven't really had a good chance to get some reading in. I will try to get my review up for the word 'pie' as soon as humanly possible, seeing as I don't have too much more left of that book. Everyone is doing a great job and I am really proud of y'all!! Go team!! :)

@Emily This proud dog mommy over here says thank you for the Mother's Day wishes!! hehehe :)

message 215: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (esaria) | 4273 comments Happy Mothers day to all mothers on the team (both mothers of children and of "fur babies" ;D)

I've also finished a couple of books over the past few days that haven't been posted yet (oops). Adding some to banked books because I'm not sure where to put them. Feel free to tell me where to toss them as needed c:

message 216: by Nikki (new)

Nikki | 2404 comments Aww happy Mother's Day to all the US mothers :) hope you've all enjoyed the day fur babies mothers too :)

Finished Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater reviewed and marked off on spreadsheet and as it was a buddy read grabbed 10 points for us :)

Tomorrows read is How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper :)

faith (lunaslovelies) | 780 comments hey i just filled out 'maybe' in line 5 and 'made' in line 6 using some of the banked books, but they both took a couple books each, so if anyone has any books with those words and wants to replace those, that's totally fine ;)

❤️Quietly Emily❤️ | 330 comments I'll be finishing a couple books tomorrow as I'm doing a readathon, very excited!

message 221: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 3530 comments I'd like to hold off posting the partial word books for a just a little bit, especially since I think I can find short books for some of the words easily (I'll start looking now). It might be better to hold off for some of the more difficult words like "broncin" and "Helter", etc.

Gabi, how are you coming on A wrinkle in time? It's the last word we need in that line.

I will start on the book for "February" tonight so we can finish up that line too.

It looks like we are close to finishing lines 3, 7 & 8 too. If you have books in those lines, let's try to finish them up first so we can progress a bit in the song.

message 222: by ❤️Quietly (new)

❤️Quietly Emily❤️ | 330 comments I am a few pages from finishing A Study in Scarlet, and I was thinking of using "Inside" for it if it's not taken? I put it on the spreadsheet but if someone else was planning on using it I can switch to a different word!

message 223: by Amaryllis (new)

Amaryllis (amellin) Does anyone see a word I could use "Carrie" for? I'm finished with it already and it was a BR, so that would give us some nice points - but I can't find any word to use it for so far.

Jennifer wrote: "I'd like to hold off posting the partial word books for a just a little bit, especially since I think I can find short books for some of the words easily (I'll start looking now). It might be bette..."

I actually put Helter Skelter: The True Story of the Manson Murders on my BR just yesterday, so if we ever reach that part, I could finish that word with it

message 224: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 3530 comments Mayra,

I'm thinking Carrie would be a good one to use for one of our "I"s, there is one open in line 4.

Keyona | 456 comments Anyone else notice that we just left the other for-fun team in our DUST?! Ha! I love it. Keep up the great teamwork guys!

message 226: by Amaryllis (new)

Amaryllis (amellin) @Jennifer can I just use the I from Carrie? I thought that was only possible for the chorus?

message 227: by Katarzyna (new)

Katarzyna (katarzynamarie) | 113 comments Marya wrote: "@Jennifer can I just use the I from Carrie? I thought that was only possible for the chorus?"

Hi Marya and Jennifer!! To just use one letter from a book's title, it has to be the first letter in one of the words and not just any letter from the word. I will keep looking for options of where we can fit Carrie in for the challenge for you!! :)

Hi Emily!! I was looking at the spreadsheet and how you planned to use A Study In Scarlet, and if I'm not mistaken, we are only allowed to use one part of a title and not take from multiple parts that aren't all first letters. Maybe you could use the book for the word "I" in line 4?

message 229: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 3530 comments Marya and Chloe - wouldn't this fall into the same category as "ago" from the word "Dragon"? Since "Carrie" is just one word and we are using one letter from it, I think it would qualify. It would be different if we were trying to spell out a word of more than one letter.

That would be awesome, thank you

message 232: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 3530 comments Marya, bummer. I was hoping since "I" is a word in this case instead of just an individual letter, they would accept it. It seems like a special case, but oh well. In that case, I would fit it into line 20 as "do" using this version: ...e as pedras choveram do céu by Stephen King

message 233: by Katarzyna (new)

Katarzyna (katarzynamarie) | 113 comments Hi Faith!! I saw that you put The Burning Maze under banked books and that you have completed reading it. I plugged it in for the word 'the' in line 13 to complete that word, so feel free to post a review in the review thread when you have a chance!! :)

message 234: by faith (new)

faith (lunaslovelies) | 780 comments @Chloe hey! I actually haven't finished it, so maybe Goodreads just glitched or something, but I'm about halfway through it anyway and I'll get the review up soon!

That's awesome, thank you. But since it's already read, we probably should find another word to use it for - it would bring us 6 points after all, and we won't reach line 20 soon :/

message 237: by Katarzyna (new)

Katarzyna (katarzynamarie) | 113 comments Hi Marya!! I was just looking at the spreadsheet and you could use the book Carrie, under the edition that Jennifer found up above, for the letter 'E' of one 'levee' in line 15! We already have the 'eve' part of both, so it could go on either one, and then we would only have to find the letter 'L' to complete the word. I hope that helps!! :)

Nikki | 2404 comments Added Nowhere But Here (Thunder Road, #1) by Katie McGarry as a banked book at the moment when we open a new line with But on was going to use that one but use it where you want if you find somewhere else it fits it's worth 4 points :)

message 240: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 3530 comments I think we just finished line 7!

message 241: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 3530 comments Marya, have you started The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, #1) by Douglas Adams yet? I'm thinking about adding a short cheesy romance for the word "Made" in line 6 instead of using our 2 books to spell it out, especially since I think I'm going to need Eternal Magic to help me in line 16.

Would it be ok with you if I did that?

I read the Hitchhiker's Guide and wasn't sure which word to use it for. Which word should I switch it to?

message 243: by ❤️Quietly (new)

❤️Quietly Emily❤️ | 330 comments I finally finished a book, thus rendering me not completely useless!

message 244: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 3530 comments Sanah,

I would use either this version: Per Anhalter durch die Galaxis (Per Anhalter durch die Galaxis, #1) by Douglas Adams for the word "Die" in line 17 or 18 (Natalie has a book in the line 17 slot, but if she hasn't started it yet, perhaps she can move down to line 18)

Or this one O Guia do Mochileiro das Galáxias (O mochileiro das galáxias, #1) by Douglas Adams to claim the letters G, O, and D for "good" in line 16. The problem with this option is that we will need a book starting with "O" to complete the word and as I learned in the scrabble challenge, they aren't that easy to fill.

message 245: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 3530 comments Sanah and Marya, are you OK with Nikki posting her book for the "but" in line 12? Assuming she is already done with it, it would get another word crossed off.

Sanah, you can put The Burning Maze in line 17, where I have the Upside of Falling down for "The".

And Marya, we can use the edition for Uglies that starts with "S" to complete the word "miss" in line 14.

message 246: by Sanah (last edited May 18, 2018 01:44PM) (new)

Sanah Shabbir (szs_30) | 545 comments I can complete the word "good" with the Hitchhiker's Guide and a Man Called Ove. it's been on my TBR for a while and this gives me a reason to read it. I think that should cover it, right? But why not keep it for "that" since you and I already completed the word already?

I'm okay with moving if Marya is. Is there a better place I could put The Belles?

message 248: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 3530 comments Sanah, I was confused by your question about where to move it to. I didn't realize you already submitted it under a word - and yes, let's keep it there!!!

message 249: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 3530 comments sorry for the confusion, Sanah!

message 250: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 3530 comments Sanah,

For The Belles, we have a "be" and a "the" coming up in line 18 (which I hope we will get to by next week??). I'm even willing to give you my "be" spot in line 17 if you have already read the Belles. I don't mind posting my book later.

Do you think you could use your Man Called Ove for the "ove" part of "Drove" in line 15? I'm having trouble filling that word with a short KU read.

I'm guessing we won't get much further than line 20 by the end of the month, so I'm starting to move up some of the books I have further down. I recommend we all do that so we can maximize the points we can earn as a team.
