Ghost Whistler Are there original settings comparable to the grimdark world of the 41st milleniium as envisioned by plastic model peddlers, Games Workshop?

I'm not just referring to its influences (Judge Dredd, Nemesis the Warlock, Maggie Thatcher :D) but a setting elsewhere in sff (novels particularly) that does a similar thing

Trike I don’t think you have to look any further than the Deathstalker series by Simon Greene. That’s basically an alternative version of WH40k. I mean, the main guy’s name is Owen Deathstalker, fer cry.

A new series that popped up on my radar recently is the Steel Legion books by Casey Coulette. There are only two so far, so you can get in on the ground floor with Steel Breach and Steel Storm.
