WHAT IF

I enjoyed Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan Series, which is sort of a combination of Alternate History and Steampunk, set around World War I.

Isaac Asimov wrote some pieces in this style. I am thinking of a short story of his called "What If," but I think there are some others as well. (Maybe someone else who is more familiar with these can jump in?)
I have heard good things about Michael Chabon's The Yiddish Policemen's Union, although I have not read it yet.

Oh, I had forgotten about this one! It's called 11/22/63.

Harry Turtledove is the class writer of What if ...
Guns of the South is really good one by him in 1990 10 of friends passed it around by time I got it back it unluckily feel to bits.
