Not used in quidditch. I started with the buddy read, but they were faster than I and I stopped after a few comments. So I don't think we can use it for that.

Maddy | 2127 comments Morning! The book I am reading The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue has a scene where old lady uses taro cards to predict the future of the MC Monty. I think it could work for "books where a character uses fortuneteller/divination tools". And I will be done with the book soon, only an hour left according to my ereader :)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Just wondering how I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer works for one of the classes. It's a true crime memoir. Is it the dark cover? Or because of the criminal experts in the book (reporters, CSI people etc..,)? I just don't want us to get called out on it and docked points because someone thought it was a different kind of book.

JanEyre9 Nice find Maddy!

I can read A Red Herring Without Mustard, a fortune teller uses a crystal ball

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I am finishing a book today or tomorrow that has a knife on the cover. Might also count as a "figure close up"

The Black Prism (Lightbringer, #1) by Brent Weeks

message 457: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Chava, you might still be able to make comments on the buddy read. I'm behind on Black Prism but the other readers said they would still chat with me on the thread.

Anyway, It can't hurt to make some finally comments on the book in the thread, we might still get buddy read points.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I filled in Black Prism under Knife in Potions. If someone prefers it be used for a spell instead, feel free to delete it. Someone highlighted the title for B. I don't understand the spells sheet because the words and books being used for them aren't listed. But since I haven't finished it, it hasn't been submitted for a completed spell yet.

message 460: by JanEyre9 (last edited May 30, 2018 06:11AM) (new)

JanEyre9 If Black Prism fits somewhere else I can read Graceling (Graceling Realm, #1) by Kristin Cashore for the knife part of potions (if everyone things the blade on the cover would be considered a knife)

I know...I’d like to learn how to post the moving pics or whatever they are called...can anyone direct me to a simple set of directions to do so? I’m thinking we need to post a crowd of cheerleaders or something...it’s kinda neat how this is orchestrated. I’m so glad I’m not playing this first round...I am nervous for them...

it is nuts! We're now waiting for the dirty snakes to finish the quaffle book as there's no point in us completing a chain now.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments The Shining (The Shining, #1) by Stephen King

By sight this cover just screams yellow. When run through the extractor it's 29% lemon yellow, 6% broom yellow and 12.2% galliano yellow and 3.2% puddy yellow. For a total of 50.4% yellows. But I don't know how the color breakdown thing works since it was made complicated by color extractors instead of just what color pops the most on the cover.

I thought about some series that I've enjoyed. First one is The Lunar Chronicles, that was such a fun series that just kept getting better and the audio is amazing. I really liked The Infernal Devices series and A Court of Thorns and Roses series. Oh I love the Creekwood series! Both of those books were fantastic. A fun light series is Darcy & Rachel Something Borrowed and Something Blue

I started late too. The book didn't become available at the library for a while. It's all fine. There are several people. I don't think 2 people can claim the BR points though. I've added a few comments now. I didn't like the book as much as everyone else

Yes to the end...Tri Wizard is coming soon and it goes to the end as well. It will be good to put as much of the classes behind us as we can so we can concentrate on the next...but we do have to the end to get it all done...

Okay, so what you're saying is that only one person can get the points for the team by participating in BR? Sorry, I'm still trying to get the hang of this...

message 483: by Mary X (new)

JanEyre9 I think, but definitely could be wrong, that more than 1 team member can do a BR as long as there are other people in the buddy read. So Mary and I can both be in a BR for the same book as long as other people are also participating.

The moving pics are called GIFs. You can just google one and add them as goodreads pics with this (just cope image link, regulate the width and height, take out the stars I inserted in the beginning and end and you are good to go ;) )
