Love it! And I second (third, fourth) everyone giving a big thanks to the Quidditch players - especially those of us from Team Minerva - you all have done a ton of the heavy-lifting. I had thought I might volunteer for the next Quidditch as well but I'm not anywhere near fast enough and with my travel at the end of the month I'm not sure I will be available enough to help with announcing. I like that people can come in off the bench. Maybe being a "pinch" player is a good role for some of us.

Shan I am totally with you...I would need a 'personal trainer' I me coach to do this.
I'm open to taking a turn because I do read a lot, but I would need someone to help me.

I'm glad you are thinking about our DA outstandings...this is really the only class besides the water spell that we have left to get assigned.
We've used a couple of the HP books for spell out...so keep in mind if you could think how to use those, we could move things around a bit.
I've got one book coming up that I plan to read later in the month that might work for a DADA

For now I'm going to go back to listening to the Black Prism and try to finish it this week.

I’m really enjoying it.

I agree. It’s a bit too involved for me.

How are you liking it?

It makes a bit more sense if you read through the individual threads for chaser, beaters & keeper. Then you can see how the current players have picked the books they are reading

Too much of a stretch! Nice thinking though

Alas, I must agree also. I'm having difficulty following the rules for this game. I'm still posting my books and hoping it helps the team somehow :)

I agree. I preferred his first book. This one felt more forced. I enjoyed it but not nearly as much as the first.

It's time to volunteer for 2nd or even for 3rd Quidditch match. Come over to our Gryffindor Rooster and if you are interested sign up. If you are still confused how to play don't worry about that. Our 1st match players will definitely help you out.
Also, we need announcers.

This one has a scene, where they read Coraline's fortune in tea leaves, but all the spots are filled for that one, but just letting you know if you want to switch something

It has a lake on cover, so how about that water charm? Or maybe since it has Angels in title, put it in DADA and get a demon book? Angels vs Demons?

I'm really early into it but feel a bit eh so far. I like the humor, Weir is definitely funny, but I haven't connected with Jazz yet. I keep comparing it to The Martian which isn't fair but I can't help it!

Summer Hours at the Robbers Library

The book will have witches but I don't know what the magic aspect will be yet.

I thought the BR for this book started 6/6/18 from the spreadsheet Mods emailed out but it actually starts on the 15th of this month. If I join in on the discussion would that still count?

Maybe if anyone had a book cover that looks like a desert or a field without any water?
I plan on reading this if it can apply

It definitely does DeeDee!!!

Not sure I understand how those go together Kate...
For this class we need the following:
Read Pairs of books that represent the Dark Art and the way of defending against it per Hogwarts year
"Book 1: Mentions a Dark Art / Creature
Example: Moon Called by Patricia Briggs (Werewolves)"
"Book 2: Title contains a way of defense
Example: Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs (Silver)"

You need to be active daily - books read really need to be posted as soon as they are finished

This is definitely yellow

Hmm I'd say no. I don't really want to reason why - because spoilers.
I'm listening to Catching Fire at the moment so this can be paired with a witch or vampire book when I'm done

My ereader says it was an average of 325 words per minute. I think I have a new personal best :D
Big thanks to the chasers as well! So many chains! Last I checked we were 70 points ahead of Slytherin. If I hadn't made it in time, the point difference would be exactly 70 and we would have had an even score!

Finished 6/7/18
296 pages
Contains: witches, golem, hoodoo practitioners, ghosts and dark shadow beings aka boo hags

I was thinking of the cursed locket (Salazar Slytherin's) that is turned into a Horcrux that could be eliminated/defeated by something that gets rid of Horcruxes (in the book it's the sword of Gryffindor imbued with basilisk venom). It might be too far-fetched but I had a book with a locket on the front and it made me think of it when I was doing research for things that could be dark arts/dark creatures.

I just noted Ashley’s Post 688

Tin eye is only a guide. What we see matters most in this challenge!

...from me!
Can everyone please check the spreadsheet (planning and official) has all their read books on it?
I do this...but with there being so many books it's taking longer and longer! If you can point out any obvious ones then it will save me some time checking that I can then spend reading!

Interesting...... Will be fascinated to see how this plays out.
On another note, I added the two books my daughter and I are currently reading (one unabridged audiobook and one chapter book in the evenings) to the spreadsheet. I checked Ramona the Pest at the Accelerated Reader Bookfinder site for the word count and it's 27145 words, I will make sure and link to it in the spreadsheet too. We are almost done listening to Black Beauty and should be done with Ramona the Pest next week. Figured I might as well get credit for the listening/reading aloud!
I should be done with Big Little Lies today then moving on to finish Dragonfly in Amber so we can close out Arithmancy. Should be done with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets audiobook today as well.

How does your daughter like Ramona the Pest? We haven't read that one yet My daughter recently discovered a series called Isadora Moon and another called Daisy Dreamer and she is obsessed. Sophie Mouse is big right now also. My sister gave her 4 new chapter books for her birthday and we were both thrilled!
