I just want to be clear - banked books are books that have been read already and can just not be used for the Tri-Wiz. Not books we are planning to read and have listed, correct?

That is correct...we have as most teams do...lots of books that were claimed only for book points. Originally Tri-wizard was supposed to happen this month and we would have been using those books to claim for that challenge.

Keep recording what you've read for this month and hopefully we'll have the rules soon so we know what to read for TriW

Clarification question:

One of my team members asked is books started before the 31st (but not finished until August) can be used for Tri-wizard.

I was thinking yes, because it isn't a banked book, but wanted to check with someone who actually knows the answer ;)

Answer: Yes

So to be clear...if it's started, but not finished, it's NOT considered a 'banked book'.

RULES

Short story compilations are allowed, correct? We are listening to Fairy Tales Every Child Should Know by Hamilton Wright Mabie. It's an unabridged version of 24 different fairy tales that are in the original versions. Default page number is over 200. I will put it in if you all think I should.

Original versions of fairy tales are much darker by the way. There are all sorts of things I hadn't heard before!

Yes...we need a lot of vowels...so I'm sure we can use it as an I.

My understanding is that they have to be finished by 7/31.

I think there may be an exception for BOM...I haven't seen a ruling on that yet though. The question was asked because the original BOM was set up that BOM readers had 4 weeks I think it said to finish. Again, nothing has been communicated yet on that.

What did you think about this read?

I liked it more than I expected. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews so I wasn't sure what I'd think but I liked the faerie world and the conflicts within. There were a few parts that had me rolling my eyes but as a whole it felt fresh and exciting. I will definitely read the 2nd book when it comes out!

Now I'm getting obsessed over Crooked Kingdom!!

*Updated on Spreadsheet. My daughter and I listened to this as an audiobook but this was the version we listened to (same cover/publisher, etc). Audiobook was approx 4.5 hours long. By the way, this was more disturbing to me than I thought it would be. My daughter loved it however.
