Thank you! I read it - but I must have read it incorrectly the first time!

Tammie | 4553 comments For The Goblet of Fire...task 1...
I have 3YA books that will work for 3 sides of the square.
If someone has a YA book with first letter of T and last letter of B or T, we have a square...anyone?

My books are:
Left side: The Heir
Bottom: Redemption
Right Side: The Queen or Breaking Dawn

Also...I don’t have to read any of these if someone has something else going.,,

There were a few on the YA List from 2017 on listopia. I couldn't find any in my own YAs that ended with T or B - a lot of mine end in G.

Works?

Edit: Never mind. I read your text wrong.

So far? Not much. It is a pretty fast read, but Lale kind of repulses me as a character. (view spoiler)

Kate (kcbond) | 643 comments Hi all, we could really use another person from our team to play Quidditch. Last round and only lasts about five days. I know it’s crazy busy but especially if you are interested in being a seeker or even playing back up I think they would appreciate it.

Still good to hold back for after we finish the initial challenges which I think we will pretty quickly!

Just let me know if I am put in the team because I am not checking the chat and will probably forget, okay? :)

Yeah they did. I am a bit hesitant as I am in Australia while the others are predominantly in the USA. It's only 5 days so it's do-able, I guess. I'd prefer someone else to go, but if we really can't find anyone, then I'm happy to do it again. I want to give someone else a go though

Thanks Chava! Same as for Maddy. Hopefully we will find someone else but it's nice to know we will have a few people in as potential players. I think the length (1st) and intensity (2nd) of the matches has intimidated people!

It's the intensity that's scared me off this time. I work full-time and it's not summer holidays here in Australia :). I just don't want to disappoint anyone

Tammie - sorry for the confusion, those covers were just an example. What I wanted to know was do the covers need to match like in the examples i showed or can they just have similar items on them? How similar does similar have to be? :)

message 1378: by Maddy (last edited Jul 31, 2018 06:18AM) (new)

Maddy | 2127 comments Well... they have a challenge here called "deja vu covers" or something. They have a lot of examples of "similar covers". Maybe look it up as examples? I have a link saved on my home computers, so I can post it in a couple of hours when I get home.

I can suggest The Ice Queen (The Dark Queens, #3) by Jovee Winters , The Passionate Queen (The Dark Queens, #2) by Jovee Winters , The Magic Queen (The Dark Queens, #4) by Jovee Winters . The whole series has covers like these if you think it can be considered "similar".
And I have almost all books from series available, if need arises.

It is more intensity of it that makes me reluctant. I like to read at my own pace. Some days I do not read at all, some days I read 3 books in a row. Quidditch is not very supportive of such reading schedule.

message 1380: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Hi all. Just checking in from my business trip.

I can’t do Quidditch for the reasons just mentioned. There’s no day really that I can just be available to stop everything and knock out a book.

They posted the maze 30 minutes ago but there's nothing else in the Captains notes yet on details. I expect there will be a post any time at Owls making an announcement. Who ever sees it first feel free to post the link so everyone has it.

I hope all who want to will participate in the Maze and Quidditch games. They are a lot of fun if you have the time. I haven't heard from our newer players in awhile...I hope everyone will be comfortable participating!

Thanks for letting us know!

@ ALL...books finished on 7/31 or earlier must be entered on the SS no later than 8/1 to count for BRs, BOM, classes, etc.

The only aspect of the challenges that will continue will be Characters, Quidditch and TriW.

Like Jenn if you can't get to it because of a computer...perhaps update your personal booklist. We might be able to update from there...especially if you have BRs or BOM. It's not like we are fighting for 1st place, so it's not something you should lose sleep over, but we should try to keep up with everyone else if we can.

Thanks much!
