SS updated. I just noticed that I only added the book to the Tri-Wizard tasks sheet and not the main sheet, but it's on there now.

I'm also almost finished with my replacement book for the Song task. I'll start Halfway to the Grave tonight. Those are my only 2 pending task books. That might be all I have in me to finish by Thursday.

I also deleted a book I know I am not going to finish: Red Demon. It wasn't slated for any letters or tasks so I kept putting it aside.

Hi everyone! Back from vacation and back at work. Playing catch up on e-mails and tasks for the next few days but plenty of audio book time! I will definitely be able to finish the books I committed to for the TW tasks and can hopefully tack one or two quick books on at the end for extra characters.

I'm going to try and finish up The Rose & the Dagger by Thursday though I am only a little less than halfway so I'm not sure if I will be able to finish it in time. It will probably be my last book though, as I have a lot of homework to turn in this week. :)

I will probably try to squeeze another audio book in before this ends. Are there any players in the task sheet that have gone MIA or aren't likely to finish? Maybe I could look for a back up to something that's still pending.

I’m just putting in books now when I’m almost finished. Don’t want to put any in that I might not get done.

In my opinion...yes they are a character...you'll know better as you read the book though

The ghosts in her books typically do interact and this one's already talking. To me they are characters. But I thought people in non-fiction books should count for letters and they wouldn't let us do that.

Yeah...non-fiction is tricky...I think it's because its factual usually about one person...and there isn't usually narrative in it. Authors count for that though.

There are lots of books where ghosts are even MCs....I think you are good...especially if they are around for most of the book.

The Betrayed has 3 of those so far but I'm not far in: A, D, & R.

I was just looking at the SS and see that there are two tasks for Harry Potter and the Deathy Hallows, task 1 and task 5, that are completed but the points aren't calculating. I am not strong in excel so maybe someone who is can check that out :)

I've got a few books with characters listed that haven't been used yet so hopefully those help! It might be they just aren't recorded yet too. Quick question about the end - do you all have time to input items after the 31st or do you need time to input books/characters/etc before you have to submit. Just wondering if we are trying to get books in right under the deadline on the 31st.

Hmm. I just tried to put a formula in to add that column up and it wouldn't take. I'm really good with Excel but I don't know how the captains want this set up. Couldn't you just type in 40 in the column? I see the formula in place for Task 5 but it's still not adding it up.

I don't want to mess anything up so I'm just going to leave it to someone who actually set the spreadsheet up.

Huh. I had it in my head that this ended on the 30th and I was wondering why they didn't make it go until the 31st. Good to know. What I can't find is the exact time it ends to line it up with my time zone.

Hey everyone...it’s great everyone seems to be checking in these last days. We’ve had this vaca planned forever and I’m sorry it’s come at the end of this challenge so my participation has been minimal.
I just assumed the challenge went through month end. They’ll usually allow captains a bit of extra time to post, but I’m sure all finishes will have to be posted no later than that last day.

I’ll check the captains page now for addl info and amend this post if there’s anything different.

What can I read for to get us more points?

I added the read date for Attainment to the Tri-Wizard task.

I can double check other pending task books to see if they were finished and just not updated on the tasks spreadsheet.

I see multiple books in the Tri-Wizard task sheet that aren't on the main spreadsheet. I'll start adding those to the bottom of the main spreadsheet.

As of yesterday the letters for characters we still need are in post 1926
Traditionally the most difficult are the vowels (a,e,i,o,u) and n and y

Instead of stressing about finishing the mammoth
The Wise Man's Fear in time I switched my story within a story task to The Turn of the Screw. I am still going to try to finish the other book in time but at least now I won't be worried about the task.

The downside of audio books is that I heard a U name in mine while walking my dog and now I can't remember it! Maybe the Amazon or Google book search can help me.
