Fantastic! I'll find something that starts with "dead" and get them all on the spreadsheet. Thanks!

Brooke | 1199 comments Happy to help! :-)

I have a few books I need to post later today when I'm done with work. I finished Silver Girl, Every Single Secret and Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children for Triwizard tasks. I also finished The Deep Dark Descending which will cover one of the E's needed for character spell-it-out.

I should be able to make a good dent in Cinder tonight and finish it over the weekend. When I'm done with it I'll be able to start Night Shift.

What Are You Reading? (AKA the Checkin Thread)

Quick announcements
It's hard to believe we're past the halfway point in August already.
The three posts above this have updates for Triwizard tasks and characters. If I have made a mistake or you are no longer able to read for a specific task, please let me know. The spreadsheets are up to date with everything but quidditch books. I'll get those added Saturday and move our completed characters to the official spreadsheet over the weekend as well.

Questions - What are your reading plans for the week? Anyone reading the second BOM which just started yesterday? Just for fun and in honor of the Triwizard lake task - what is your favorite aquatic creature and do you have a favorite nautical book?

BOM

Ongoing
Into the Water (Aug. 2)
Everland (Aug. 16)

Upcoming
Magic Triumphs (Kate Daniels #10) (Aug. 28)

Buddy Reads - BRs no longer earn extra points; but if you're interested in joining one just for fun, here's this week's list.

Station Eleven (Aug. 15)
An Artificial Night (Aug. 15)
Crime and Punishment (Aug. 15)
Sandman Slim (Aug. 19)

message 908: by Deanna (new)

Deanna | 3529 comments My first goal for the weekend is to finish the three quidditch books that are actually interesting enough that I want to finish them. I also have to finish Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, which I had started before quidditch.

I have the first two BOMs in my library crate, so hopefully I'll get through them next week.

My favorite aquatic creature is probably a humpback whale, and my favorite nautical book... I haven't actually read a lot of these, but I guess it's still Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.

message 909: by Camilla (new)

Camilla | 1885 comments I'm currently reading Small Town Demons: Seven Tales of Small Town Terror, Uncorked: My year in Provence studying Pétanque, discovering Chagall, drinking Pastis, and mangling French and Pakana pyhiinvaelluksella - kuusi viikkoa Jaakopintiellä. Listening to The Collector and The Invisible Girls: A Memoir. I think all of these work only for the characters, not TW.
I'll start with the E.D. and baseball bat on cover books once I finish two of these.

Lindsay♫SingerOfStories♫ (lindsaysingerofstories) | 707 comments Hi everyone!
This week I finished 2 books: Children of Blood and Bone (Legacy of Orïsha, #1) by Tomi Adeyemi and Puddin' (Dumplin', #2) by Julie Murphy . I definitely recommend both of these books if you enjoy YA and/or fantasy and/or contemporary. I gave both of them 5 stars!

Now I'm reading Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #1) by Kerri Maniscalco and Dark Matter by Blake Crouch . SJTR is a re-read for me because I'm gearing up to read books 2 and 3 for a blog tour.

message 944: by Deanna (new)

Deanna | 3529 comments I knocked out the tasks for prophecy in title/series, wand on the cover, exclusive club, and story in a story today. Amazing how much reading can be accomplished when a pulled calf muscle makes moving painful.

I'll work on my dragon in the series task tomorrow, and I found books for bus on the cover and feast/dinner item on the cover, which are next on my list.

The task lists in the posts are up to date. I'll work on the spreadsheets in the morning.

Yes, we do. The mods made an announcment that the books had to be read by four different readers, so I had to move the original book to a different task. Stilts will work. Thanks.
