Audrey Carroll For my free read, I decided to read My Own Words by Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I chose this book for several reasons. For one, I am really interested in law and government, so reading from the perspective of a supreme court justice was an exciting prospect. I also chose this book because I really wanted to read a book from the perspective of a strong female, and no one is stronger than the notorious RBG. Finally, I chose this book because RBG is one of my personal heros, and I really wanted to hear her thoughts and stories. I really liked reading about the inner workings of the supreme court, and hearing Justice Ginsburg’s thoughts on female equality. While it was less of a memoir and more of a collection of thoughts, this book was still engaging, and I really enjoyed reading it. I really enjoyed how it was not just Ginsburg’s writings, but also her biographists, who offered context and historical facts for the reader. This really facilitated my understanding of RBG’s stories, which in turn, made the reading experience better. All in all, I recommend this book to everyone, but especially if you are interested in law or a book by a strong female. If you hate all things government, you could find this a bit boring. But all in all, for a non-fiction book, I loved it, and it only increased my love for the famous dissenter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
