Alejandro Loaiza | 2 comments I read this book between 2001- 2004. Cover was reddish and title name was probably "Dawn...(something idk?)"...if I can remember right, it might have had like a red planet with a dead tree or something? this book was written for teens and young adults for sure. The book I had was a softcover and palm size. Everything was written in English.

Spoiler:
So some random modern man is accidently sent back in time after getting hit by lightning. He finds himself in a rainforest and learns how to survive by eating strange bugs and berries. He finds a monkey and becomes friends with it. Man eventually gets captured and turned into a slave. He proves himself to be a warrior. I can't remember after that but I do remember him running back to the rainforest after 10 years or something. He finds his old monkey friend while running away from enemies and he gets hit by lightning again which returns him back home.

~Please help me find this book~ *thanks*

Whirlwind by David Klass turned up while searching, but it was published in 2008.

Can you tell us more about the man - age, jobs/skills/interests, married/single, human companions, home country, etc.?

About how many years into the past does he travel? (Spoilers are okay - just give us a clear warning before revealing a spoiler.)

Alejandro Loaiza | 2 comments I believe the man was around his mid twenties? His relationship is very cloudy, so I'm not really sure but all detail was skipped.
The book is not too long but possibly around 300 pages. The book never went into his own personal life and literally went straight into some man running across a street on a rainy day and lightning hits him and he ends up waking up in a rainforest.
So the problem about the exact time of date: I believe the book never went into that and stayed as a mystery throughout the whole story. Everything was science-fiction so the type of historical people are also fake but as what I can remember, the story detailed a lot of the warriors and villages as the type to be around from Ancient Egypt and Cleopatra era and definitely not from the Dark Ages or medieval times.
