PLOT DETAILS: Male MC was a lawyer (maybe a public defender) and he owned/operated a shelter for battered women and children.

Female MC was made guardian of her foster sister's child after the sister and her fiance was murdered.

Possible Spoilers:


Female MC was surrogate for her foster sister, due to her being unable to bear children. (Both had been abused as children)

The foster sister and fiance was murdered by the fiance's son. The mother (fiance's soon to be ex-wife) had put the son up to it by telling him that the father (fiance) would leave them destitute.

Male MC took it upon himself to protect the Female MC and child.

The son tried many ways to get the child from the female MC, including setting fire to the women's shelter, and trying to get a young teenager to steal the child.

Please note: I believe this is a romantic suspense, but I am not 100% sure. It may have been classified as a contemorary romance instead.

I would like to read this if anyone finds the title.
