Zihan (rizareads) Also, progress update:

I'm a third into The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and it's been a super quick read so far!

That sounds great! Anything to make it easier for us to navigate the ss :D Ohhhhhh. How are you liking it so far? I'm planning to read it sometime this month but I'm not sure when

✦ Maica ✦ (maicacruz) | 687 comments I'm also on my phone so I can't edit the ss right now but I'll do it when I'm on the computer. But if anybody else wants to edit it, feel free to do it :D

It's been a lot of fun so far! This is not really a spoiler, but Evelyn is a very, let's just say, interesting character. I'm currently reading about her second husband and am very intrigued to find out about the other five haha.

Hi Robyn (and everyone please correct me if I'm wrong),

I think you need to take a look at this spreadsheet here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

And check out the "Round 1' tab to see what requirements have already been filled. For example, Fuzaila has already put down "Turtles All the Way Down" for the state Alaska. At this point, we should try to fill all the 100 descriptions first and then hopefully move on to Round 2 if possible.

Does that make sense?

Zihan (rizareads) Quick question: do I need to create a separate shelf for the books I read for this challenge? Just wondering why there's a box for shelf name under the challenge on the main page of the group.

Fuzaila (feistyhijabi) | 1336 comments Zihan wrote: "Quick question: do I need to create a separate shelf for the books I read for this challenge? Just wondering why there's a box for shelf name under the challenge on the main page of the group."

That's not a requirement. Its only if you want to keep a track of the books you read for the challenge. Not particularly useful. The challenge bar on main page asks you how many books you want to read, and the books you add to this new shelf would count towards the challenge, just as in the yearly reading challenge. Sarah or Abbie doean't bother you by asking you to sign up there, its your choice :)

Idaho by Emily Ruskovich - North Dakota - Trees in the cover (there's another edition you can use Idaho by Emily Ruskovich )
Looking for Alaska by John Green - West Virginia - Author's name is 'John'

Fuzaila (feistyhijabi) | 1336 comments That's fine ari :)
Do you think you could update the spreadsheet with the books you mean to read? Mostly because many of the categories are claimed and we don't need to have to cross each other xD In fact, the review you posted was in a category I had originally claimed, but I think I shall pass :) We'll just have to make sure it doesn't happen in future

Here's the spreadsheet link https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
(Its in the first message of both our review and chat thread :)

Yup! You have checked in Maria (message 29), and yes we all added ourselves. Feel free to add yourself and your books to fill out the categories xD

Zihan (rizareads) Hey Fuzaila, I was looking at the spreadsheet, and shouldn't The Poet X only get 1 point since it's written in verse?

On a different note, it's a great book and you'll fly through it!

I thought the rules said poetry books count as long as they're 300+ pages?

Here are the original rules:

1. Books must be over 100 pages long, without illustrations. (150 pages minimum for middle-grade books, 300 pages minimum for poetry or books written in verse, 300 pages minimum for manga/graphic novels.)

2. As per our normal rules, manga, graphic novels, poetry, and books written in verse will only score 1/3 of the normal points due to reduced word count. So 300 pages = 1 point.

So I think poetry books longer than 300 pages can count toward the challenge, but you only get 1/3 of the points.

Zihan (rizareads) Can someone please explain the scoring system to me?
I checked Sarah's post on our review thread, and by the time she posted that message I have already finished three books (5 points + buddy read, 7 points, and 1 point, respectively). And all three books were eligible. So shouldn't the total points I have earned be 18 points? Why did Sarah only give me 17?
Thanks!

Yup. It kinda sucks though. I just finished The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter and since it was a BR, instead of getting 16 points, I can only get 12 :(
