Well we did have the bed song he did last year Spacey, as featured on one of C. O. rounds..if ya short for a nom..did very well too, if I recall correctly! :)And I choose to rock it up with this banging number!

none seem obvious to me!controversy? morrissey? in the same sentence? surely not! :) despite most of the keech that comes out when he opens his mouth, he has produced some brilliant work, t.b.h., i prefer his 'solo' stuff to that of the smiths......and mrs tech loves him! still cuts it live, and when i think of all the quality he leaves off his set list, it amounts to an impressive body of work - only drawback for me is his tendency to include several songs per album that could be deemed as filler - don't want to see none a' these! thought of many nominations, going with this single from 'low in high school', complete with excellent ironic and bizarre video! terrible trousers.

I wonder how Tech feels about Morrisey's excellent debut single Suedehead from Feb '88..as that has a very Smiths sound about it, and one that I nearly went for, but didn't cos it's so well known?

tech thinks it was a brilliant single from what i rate as his best album, 'viva hate', but smithslike? naw, i don't see it as too similar, although he did plump for another guitar maverick in vini reilly to play on these recordings!
Are there any tracks he doesn't sing on? I just cannot handle that voice :-(

There we go then, a big improvement on last week's turnout, thanks everyone.I too would have nommed, if I could find one that didn't sound like The Smiths, or have him singing on it. But I tried 5 or 6 songs and alas, I failed and gave up.
My taste however has nothing to do with it - 12 noms means 4 votes each. As ever, voting closes on Thursday at 10 pm. Now, let me think, what could I possibly be doing that evening? I'll get it closed as soon as I can after then.

Sorry this is late, I have been trying t post it for ages, but I kept getting a message saying 'Goodreads is over capacity, try again later'.I think that Suzy and I may have differing interpretations of the phrase 'a good voice', but it seems that more punters agree with her than with me. So that would be a first then :-)

What I didn't like about it was Morrissey's occasional failure to sing at quite the same time as Siouxsie did, as it was supposed to be a duet, and his sense of timing really did let it down somewhat for me ;o>
Or, maybe I am being rather unfair on Morrissey, and it was actually Siouxsie who needed to keep slightly better timing? ;o>

I wonder whether Stephen Patrick Morrissey and George Ivan Morrison have ever met. I bet they'd get on like a house doused in petrol and stuffed with gelignite.
Now, I will confess, I have absolutely no idea what that leaves us with, I can't be sure that I have ever heard anything solo by Morrisey, or if I have, would I be able to identify it as being solo, or did I just assume it was The Smiths?

This weekend's entertainment comes from Damo Suzuki of Can tomorrow night, then our Mammothfest competition reaches its climax on Saturday, it's grand final day, and one band will book their place to perform at Mammothfest in Brighton later in the summer.Could be a bit of a crazy weekend :-)
