SciFi and Fantasy Book Club discussion

Hi, I'm trying to remember a book I read years ago. What I can remember:

1. MC is female, from our world.

2. She's transported to a magical world.

3. She's a singer.

4. She was wearing a Renaissance costume when she was transported.

5. She's an older woman, maybe had children who were adults.

6. A mistake by a dying man caused her to be changed by a spell.

I'm not sure how old the book is, but it's more than 12 years old. Thank you to anyone who can remember the title!

The Soprano Sorceress by L.E. Modesitt Jr.. I enjoyed this one but I never finished the series.
