Wil | 56 comments Just started this section it's great so far I can't believe the sixers they are awful lets go wade!

Michelle (yasminarose) I just finished the book and it was amazing!! 5 Stars!!! I loved the 80s references and the way Wade's friendships transfered from the virtual OASIS world into the real world. WOW, one of the best books I have read all year!!

Erin (erinmpugh) I thought this was a pretty awesome book overall. About halfway through things started to get exciting and I love the final battle. It was so EPIC!!!!! I thought that the parts where Wade just recited 3 pages of information were bland but necessary because it explained the mind of fangirls/fanboys perfectly! My biggest complaint was that I expected most of the "plot twists". However I stop really liked the book and I came to really care for the characters. I think it would be cool if there was a companion novel that kind of shows what the main characters ended up doing with their lives from the POV of a new character in a different part of the world. It would create closure without overdoing it.

Clarissa (art3misbooks) Amazing book! 5 stars. One of the best book I have ever read. Not only was the book entertaining, the references were well done and the writing pleasant. The characters developed in the story, especially Wade and I loved how the story ended. Of course I had expected the winner but the way it happened was so surprising and absolutely brilliant! I am in love with this book!

Adriana (adrianaqzada) OH MY GOSH! What an awesome ending. It made me smile and cry at the same time. I especially loved when Anorak told Wade his thoughts about the real world vs the online one. I could continue rambling about the million thoughts I have at the moment but I'll just say I'm so glad I went out of my comfort zone by reading a book I didn't want to read at first. Thank you so much Catriona. <3

ej_bookcorner | 3 comments I seriously love this book and its know one of my favourite book. The detail of the worlds feels like I'm in the game and it just make me want to create an account in the OASIS world and be part of the egg hunt.

AmyCynthia (amy011883) I absolutely loved this book! The references were amazing and I didn't want to put it down! I agree that the middle got a little slow, but not enough to make me want to stop reading. So great. I kind of want to read it over again.

Roz (panalchemist) I loved this. Although the pace did slow quite a bit during the mid section, I lapped everything up with a smile on my face - yes, even all the detailed references to the 80s made me laugh (probably because I was born in the 70s). I know some folks feel the romance was a bit forced, but I enjoyed it. The end of the book has left me on a happy little high that I am going to savour for a while.

Really pleased that this book was selected for this month's read. Although it was on my TBR list, I would never have got to it as soon as did, had it not been the August read.

Michelle wrote: "So... if every movie ever filmed were turned into a Flicksync, which one would you have to try first?"
Awesome question. I would go with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, simply because I know the way around the puzzles at the end, and I wouldn't have to face a dragon as I would in my fav HP book/movie.

Sarosha (saroshab) | 3 comments Ready Player One was much better then my expectations were when this was voted as the August book of the month. I hadn't really heard much about it, just that it was based around a computer game. I wasn't expecting the 80s theme and certainly wasn't expecting all the references!I didn't understand of them but I still really enjoyed the book, I will have lots of movies to watch and games to play! I liked the pacing of the book and the information given really worked for me. I was annoyed at Wade when he was searching for the Jade Key because he was so hung up over Art3mis. As for Art3mis when her blog was mentioned I found this very relatable and I really liked her character but hated that her character was a love interest. I really liked Aech's character and he seemed very likeable yet honest and his friendship with Wade was very funny. I wasn't expecting Aech to be a girl but loved the idea of beating the stereotypes by changing your gender online. I really enjoyed the final showdown with the IOI, in most books I hate the battles and feel like they are poorly written but Cline managed to portray the atmosphere well. When everyone died outside the crystal gate I was like 'whaaaat??' but it worked really well. I really enjoyed this book and will probably reread it so that I can marathon all the references. To everyone wondering whether Wade will press that red button, I don't think he will because OASIS was a massive part of his childhood and was his escape from reality, while he probably won't go on OASIS very much, he will probably give everyone else the chance to have that. I am a bit disappointed by not knowing what they do with the money and what Art3mis' plan to give everyone food is.

Kassie (sassyykassie) | 36 comments There were so many twists and turns as everything was happening! I loved the whole infiltration of IOI and finding out That Aech was an African American woman was AMAZING I loved that the author even brought of sexual orientation briefly!

And the final meeting between Samantha/art3mis and wade/parzival was just too amazing for me to handle!

I have nothing but good things to say, basically

Wow wow wow! Absolutely loved this book! The last section just flew by, so much action and everything - loved the pace. I really enjoyed how they ended everything and how they had to work together to win. The twist with the quarter (which seemed a bit random at the time) was well planned and I always enjoy a good annihilation at some point! The contrasts between the real world and what was going on in the OASIS was really well done throughout the book and even though it didn't seem to be the most emotionally-tied book I was still very happy with how it progressed. It was wrapped up really well with everything addressed to my satisfaction in the end too, I just kind of wish there was more about what they will do with the money and how that would continue on! Book withdrawals are the worst :( haha

Lauren Aguirre (laurencaguirre) | 2 comments I absolutely loved this book. I finished it within two days. I could not put it down. I love the world building, both inside OASIS and in the real world.

I loved every single nerdy reference. I freaked out whenever I read there was a Whedonverse sector in OASIS. Nerd heaven! I had to look up a lot of the 80's references, but I'm familiar with most of the movies mentioned.

Ahh! I just can't even express my feelings. This book was 1000% better than I ever thought it could be. Probably will re-read it a couple times before August 31.

Hind Azizi Alaoui | 7 comments omg this book was so amazing. I didn't like it that much at first but before i could realise it i was unable to put it down. I don't even know much about video games and i totally loved it. i probably would never i've given this book a chance if it weren't for the book club....if this gets turned into a movie i'd totally want to see it

Courtney Clark (courtneysclark) | 1 comments I really ended up likeing this book! I was very surprised how much I wanted to read it. I really enjoyed the characters, and was surprised that Aech was a female! I didn't see that coming. I also loved when they solved all the riddles and had to work together in the end.

Sandy Emerson | 4 comments So, I just finished and, damn, that was good. I've seen all the five stars this book gets and I think it deserves it. It was amazing. I liked how Wade was so normal. I haven't read many books where the character just comes off so naturally. And, that ending - it was exciting and just right.

Clara (mrspartypoison) WOOOOW. The ending. In my opinion, most of the book was predictable. However, this ending... I WASN'T EXPECTING THAT BOOM. Loved it

message 67: by Stiina (last edited Aug 25, 2014 04:12AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Stiina I just finished. My book has very small print what made reading difficult and slow. There were computer game references which were unfamiliar to me because I am not a gamer. Book and movie references were more familiar. I enjoyed it. Five stars. It made me thinking about our civilization' s future and what we can do.

Elyse (sleepybearbooks) | 9 comments I admit that I wasn't too sure about this book as I don't read very much science fiction, and I did feel that it started a little bit slow, but it was intriguing, so I kept going, and I am so happy I did. What a fantastic end. Once I got there, I just couldn't put it down, and I already want to go back and read it again. Unlikely heroes and rebels win my heart everytime.

Allie (captiveheart) | 58 comments I've just made it to level three! On the home stretch, loving it so far. Part two was awesome! I squeeled with glee at the Blade Runner reference!! (Would have been super disappointed if it hadn't come up at all!)

Allie (captiveheart) | 58 comments I finished this last night and loved loved loved it! Yes, the writing style wasn't the best. It had its moments of just dumping information and telling instead of showing, but it didn't take away from the overall charm. The month python section made me so so happy! And just the way it all worked out and came together in the end was beautiful. Such a creative idea, and it worked well. A great debut!

Javi Rojas OMG , i never thought i liked it so much. What i really didn't like at all was the whole Art3mis-Parzival-love topic. I thought it was overrated and it was just so out of place, like i wanted for him to just concentrate on the freaking Egg hunting, and he was a fool in love .... boys.

Boys indeed! I thought it was pretty in character of him to fall like though. Never really lived outside the game. And omg the blow up doll thing for the oasis.
Boys >.>
