July Buddy Read

Hi Sonja!

I've read that you prefer Historical and Sport Romance. I'm not a huge HR reader but I'm open to suggestions!
I've checked your shelves and I've seen we have quite a few books in common! Some interesting ones are:












Let me know if you're interested in reading one of the books I've mentioned, or let me know your recommendations!

Thanks for jumping in and taking the lead on this! I hosted a birthday party for my kid on Sunday for about 80 people and I'm still worn out from it! So I'm so grateful you took the initiative and pulled books we're both interested in!

I definitely need to read The Nightingale, but let me check my lending library to see if I have any others I can pull. Due to my excessive reading habit, I am somewhat limited by what my library and Overdrive have available! ;) Hang on, I'll check these and let you know in a second! THank you!!! :)

SO, I hereby bounce the ball back into your court! Looks like you're into sports books as well so if you want to go that route I'm definitely down for it. I can get from my library or off Amazon. LMK!

Wow 80 kids..sounds like a pretty impressive party!! How old is your son?

I didn't have many books in common with my previous BR partners but I have to say this month the choice is tough because we came up with some really good options!
And we've also chosen different genres..we have emotional/heavy books, funny and lighthearted stories, mystery and sport romance!

Anyway, if you want to go for sport romance, I'm totally in!
I got Pucked last month because it was free on Amazon and I was planning on reading it soon!
I don't have Alex but it's quite cheap so if we decide to read this one I can buy it on Amazon.
If you'd rather read something different instead, it's totally fine with me as well, because all the books we've chosen seem pretty interesting!

LOL omg even I'm cringing at the idea of 80 kids! No, it was 80 people total, roughly 35 kids, though we expected about 40 kids! It was a joint party with my BF who's daughter is the same age as my son - they're both 6. Her daughter turned six last Thursday and my son's birthday is today! They've been friends since about 2 weeks old and this is the second year we've done a joint party. It worked out really well because the park we had it at was very wide open and we were mostly alone so it didn't feel like we had that many!

Okay back to reading. You know... I do read pretty quickly so if you want, we can read both of those books this month and just call it our Sporty Buddy Read! That way both of us get a new book and it's a little more fair. OR, I do know that Kindle lets you loan out digital books you've purchased for two weeks.
Either way, would be hard to pass up two good books we both like, right?

Joint birthday parties are the best!! It's so nice that your son and this girl have been friends since they were born..they will grow together and their bond will hopefully grow more and more!

I am a fast reader as well, so we can definitely read both and have our July Sporty Buddy Read!!! Cannot wait to start :)

They sure do! They've already a strong bond as it is and often get confused for twins or siblings as they're very similar in looks. It's fun!

Either works for me! I did tell Karen we were doing a double-feature, but I suppose we should specify which one we're starting with! I think you have Pucked and need to buy Alex and I have Alex and need to buy Pucked! LOL!

Thanks, Karen! I think we can start with Alex since Sonja already has it and I’m going to buy the ebook so I can have it in no time! :)

No World Cup for me this year..since Italy didn’t qualify I’m not so interested in watching it!

I just noticed you're in Italy so that makes sense! (also noticed we're the same age!)
The US isn't in it either, which I'm mad about, but I'm still totally watching! It's been exciting to watch - especially since Germany got knocked out in the first round!

Plus I'm married to a Brazilian so it's not like I have any choice in the matter! LOL!

Unfortunately, I'm not a huge soccer fan and I cannot feel invested with other teams, that's why I'm not watching the World Cup!
I know Brazilian people are usually very interested in soccer (also because they have a great team!)! Enjoy the games :)

Oh I'll finish tonight if it kills me! LOL I read 70% of it yesterday alone! I just couldn't stop! :D Funnily enough my mom, my aunt and my cousin are all reading it at the same time! And we didn't even know it!

I'll aim for Monday, but I might start Tuesday. Have another birthday party this weekend and my mom arrives tomorrow so not sure how much time I'll have to finish the book I need to finish before Monday. Real life keeps getting in the way of my imaginary lives!! So if you start Monday, no worries, I'll catch you up!

Just downloaded PUCKED in audiobooks for free! I've never tried audiobook so going to be interesting hearing someone else read to me! LOL I'm probably gonna be 50 shades of beet red during the nookie scenes! HA!

Great! I’m not a big fan of audiobooks, even if lately I’m trying to listen to some of them! I’ve realized that the narrators can make you like a story a lot more (or a lot less)! Yesterday I’ve started listening to Getting Schooledsince it was free with the audible romance package!

This will be my first audiobook. If I end up not being a fan, I’ll just buy the kindle edition.

But that’s not why I got on here at nearly midnight. I just finished The Nightengale. O. M. G. Read. It. :)

Hi ladies! I'm in! Had a wild weekend with the party, World Cup finals and my mom in town so I didn't get much sleep, let alone reading time. I just finished the awesome book so I'm ready to dive into Alex or Pucked! Who are you both starting with?

How many chapters are we reading, before we talk about it? I like to do between 3 and 5...

Every 3 to 5 chapters is ok for me

Is sucks that Alex has such a "crappy" career. I would hate myself if I did something my parents wanted me to do, just so I didn't have to hear anything from them..

IDK how I feel about this book! I've finished through chapter 5... and ALOT has happened!

I fell asleep trying to read last night... made it to the coach's office in the very first chapter... then woke up about 2 hours later with my Kindle on my face.... *facepalm*

Alright, I'm devoting lunch to catching up so we can chatter. 3-5 chapters in should be good for me.
