Romance Readers Reading Challenges discussion

well took another look at the books suggested before archers voice and
Just Like That by Nicola Rendell sounds good.

But I'm pretty flexible. open for other suggestions.

yeah we can continue with 3 days a week.

there's about 63 chapters. which seems like a lot but it's not that big a book so I'm assuming most aren't that big.

First ten chapters for Saturday sound okay?

Just finished the first ten chapters.
And for now I will say that is definitely not archers voice. haha
where as archers voice starts a bit slower this just goes right into it.

I'm still a little confused about Russ' job but I'm sure that'll be explained a little more later.

also the food situation. it goes to show you should just be upfront. if you're picky just say something. it's not rude to share your preference cuz chances are the other person doesn't care what they eat. But I guess it's a nice thing to know now that he's allergic to sea food. good thing he wasn't a fan to begin with.

penny. I kinda like her. her personality. And oh my goodness guppy the dog! What a character! I love how he's expressed as a legit member of her family and not just a pet.

can't wait to see what other shenanigans they can get into.

Okay... Just finished chapter 10. I hope I'll eventually get a connection to the characters as we go. For now Russ isn't my kind of guy. Or maybe he is when he for once isn't solely thinking with his dick. Penny is okay I guess. I like that she takes matters in her own hands. And I love Guppy.

Yeah I kept thinking he reminded me of a teenager with that mind of his.


I do enjoy romances that have the funny animal character in the background. hope there's more of guppy throughout the book.

I finally finished. And I got to say I finally figured out what this book reminds me of.
A romantic comedy spoof movie.
Like everything is a bit dramatic and over the top. Like its kinda funny.
Like he's way too horny and the goofy animal in the back ground. Oh guppy! but penny seems to be normal so far.
But with all the back ground characters being a bit extra too. it definitely reminds me of a spoof movie.

And I'm glad too finally understand what his job is.
And who dresses up like sonny bono? you're the mayor come on. that's just too funny.

over all so far not the book I thought it was gonna be. But I'm getting a kick out of it.

Don't worry about taking longer. We can also use longer periods for reading if you're not up for it at the moment. I don't really care if we finish in July or later.
And you are right about the spoof movie, could totally be one. But I'm not really fond of the characters. In fact I can't stand Russ. His job makes it even worse. And which guy only wears pastels??? I still like Guppy, but since he hardly made an appearance in these 10 chapters...

I'm feeling a bit better but awesome I don't mind extending this into August either. it'll be easier.

I agree about Russ. I mean I'm open for my mind to be changed. Guppy needs to be involved way more. The only tone I really even like Russ is when the dog is around because there interactions are pretty funny. But I also think the characters apart from Guppy don't leave to much impression. so I hope that changes. I'm waiting for the exciting part. But I feel like it'll be one of those wait forever and then it ends and your left thinking what that's it?

So should we do ten chapters for Friday or Saturday? That's a bit more time. And I prefer the ten chapters to the five because when a book hits it's stride 5 is just never enough but ten is satisfying. haha

first I wanna comment on the mayor. who just dresses up like sonny bono and weeds their employees yard? I mean come on that's weird. and the town is weird too. people are too nice but the town seems like it's falling apart.
I've lived on small broken towns before people ate never nice. But maybe that's just my experience.


I think penny is over reacting to the whole, oh he lied thing. he's in town for like a week. you don't really know him and you agreed to a fling. and the second he tries to tell you the truth you brush it off and don't wanna here it because it might not be pleasant. Ugh so annoying. and when she finds out the truth she can only still focus on the lie that was clearly part of his job.
I mean I get why she might be a bit upset but he only lied about his job and last name because he has too. it's a bit annoying.

I'm so so sorry, but I give up! This book just doesn't work for me from start to finish. Just finished the chapter where they describe for like 10 pages how he uses clothespins on her nipples. To say I was bored out of my mind would be putting it mildly. Also I really appreciate some steam in my books, but there actually has to be some plot as well. The plot is so scarce here it's difficult to see at all. I then started skimming through the next chapters, but then decided to quit. I'm really sorry!

no seriously don't be sorry. I honestly thought by the description of this book that it was gonna be way better then this. But you're right at this point it's a joke of a book. I'm sorry I didn't pick a better one. so disappointing. especially when archers voice was pretty good. I wanted to give up reading this a few times myself. so it's all good. It's a forgettable book I had to keep looking at the title to remember it.

The book was on my tbr after all ;) if you choose to finish it, letme know what you think. I'm curious if it gets any better.
And if you want to do another buddy read anytime, let me know as well. I would love to be your buddy for another (hopefully better ;) ) book

yeah I was thinking about finishing it out of curiosity. so I will definitely let you know. and yes I really enjoyed being your reading buddy this month too. I was gonna say the same thing. I'm sure any book we read together in the future will be better. I mean it's got to be right?
