In the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard trilogy, Hearthstone is deaf.

Very lengthy 4 book series so maybe not a good recommendation for kids but one of the main characters in Tad Williams Otherland series is a 14 year old kid with Progeria (the aging disease where kids are elderly and die of old age by their teens).

Those are really neat recommendations.

Dean Koontz also wrote two sci fi books where the main character has Xeroderma Pigmentosum which is the disease that makes sunlight near fatal to people. The main character can only go out at night and even indoors has to avoid any kind of UV lighting. Unfortunately the series ends on a cliffhanger and despite promises Koontz some 20 years later still hasn't finished the series. Fear Nothing by Dean Koontz is the first book.

The main character in WWW: Wake by Robert Sawyer is a blind teenager.

Short story published on Tor this week is about a teen whose brain is set into a rocket. Maybe just his mind? Scant details. Not sure it qualifies.

The Ex-Heroes series by Peter Clines has a superhero in it who is paralyzed in his non heroic identity. He can shift into a being of pure energy where he isn't.
