I’m looking for a book with a British detective left for dead. His last name is Spanish, and the author’s first name is Michael, I think.

One of the Patrick Perella books by Michael Gilbert? (his dad is Spanish and his mom English) Looks like it's set in London.
I haven't read any of them so I'm not sure if one of them is the book that you're looking for!
