i don't know if this is the place for this sort of thing, but i read a review of another ali smith novel (the accidental, i think) that made it sound similar, at least in form, to this novel: divided into sections by characters with different styles & stream-of-consciousness interwoven throughout. it made me wonder if ali smith has the ambition of transposing joycean fiction with its human understanding into the technology-saturated twenty first century. (i think there but for the supports this hypothesis, but i could just be pigeonholing an author of many talents.)
