The YA Book Club discussion

I am currently reading Only Ever Yours. I am having a bit of a hard time with this one. I'm finding it quite uneasy. Though it is presented like it's a critique on the way society views women I'm finding it to be more of representing that that is just how things are. Did any of you read the book and come across some of the same issues? What were your views on this book? I'm really interested to know
