just started this book. I have never seen the movie so it should be an interesting read, a long one for sure lol I am only about 50 pages in and have noticed the balloons popping up often which I am sure will be symbolic as a whole.

I have only seen the movie, please, keep me posted on how the book actually goes!

right! I couldnt believe the language they used. Although I guess back when the book was written, that behaviour and thought process was still very much horrendous.

I am going to start reading this. I've seen the old movie and the new one it always creeps me out but should be a good book :)

I just finished a four book series so should have more time to read this one quicker. Am hoping it starts getting good soon!

Part 1: (view spoiler)[ So I have always hated clowns. To me Pennywise in this book didn’t seem as creepy as Pennywise was in the movies. But at the same time what kind of thing hides in a drain and tempts little boys :( Kida creepy. (hide spoiler)]
Part 2: (view spoiler)[Damn Balloon. Mr. Nell knows more than he leads on….or maybe its just because its his “duty”. I do like how he is Mr not Officer...less frightening for the kids I guess (hide spoiler)]

Part 4: (view spoiler)[The Losers club makes me laugh, but i must admit these kids are smart, what kid teaches themselves how to make slugs...pretty damn remarkable if you ask me. (hide spoiler)]
Finished (view spoiler)[ So I have seen this movie, the old and the remake….The remake is so much better. But anyway I find this whole storyline to be a little disturbing in typical Stephen King fashion. Deliciously disturbing (hide spoiler)]

So jealous that you are finished lol I am having such a hard time getting into this books and its SO long haha

(view spoiler)[I am afraid of clowns, almost to a phobic extent. This may have originated from accidentally turning to a channel that was playing the original It movie when I was a young child. However, Stephen King is one of my favorite authors, and I have wanted to read this book for years. This buddy read made me want to face my fears and finally pick It up. Unfortunately, this also happens to be the largest book that I have ever read, and it, of course, has to be about an evil clown that kills people.

Anyway, overall a mild start. However, all of the clown sightings, the voices from drains, and the high incidence of murders in Derry keep me interested. I am really curious as to what happened to these adults when they were children. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ This has got to be one of the slowest start books I have ever read.
I have been reading tons of other books and just cant seem to get into this one, which I am very sad about as I have wanted to read this one for awhile now.
I liked how the book started out with the well known scene of the boat going down the street and a clown asking if the boy wanted a balloon. Then it was like the whole thing came to a slow crawl. The phone calls to the kids (now adults) took forever to get through as they were so full of, what I considered, unnecessary details...get to the point lol (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[The story is still a little slow, although I guess I can’t expect exciting things to happen every moment of a 1000+ page book. I am still really curious as to what promise this group made when they were kids, and why they feel that going back to Derry is so necessary now that “it has started again.” I guess I am going to find out! 40% (view spoiler)[ finally we are getting somewhere with this story. I think the most disturbing part so far was with Bev and what happened in her bathroom. Not as much of the fact blood sprayed up through the drain but that neither her dad or mom could see it. Now that they are all.about to be reunited I am sure the story will pick up. I am also wondering what the bird and balloons mean, there has to be some time of meaning, i hope. (hide spoiler)]

60% (view spoiler)[ okay so I'm starting to get into the story now even more. I'm glad they are all back together but that dinner with fortune cookies was pretty creepy cool lol also kids back then were giant assholes apparently! (hide spoiler)]

However, things are getting more interesting now that the “Losers” are back in Derry as adults to try and stop It once again. I am hoping that this will give us more background as to how they defeated It as kids. (hide spoiler)]

80% (view spoiler)[ the horror finally begins! I am still a little disturbed that it took almost 900 pages to get to this point though. Poor Bev and her asshole of a dad. I am hoping at one point they really get into what happened with Urie. Like we know he killed himself, but did something happen the others dont know about and that's why he did it? I am hoping the rest of the book goes by quicker than it did to get this far. I am almost 1k pages in and I want answers already haha (hide spoiler)]

100% (view spoiler)[ I can honestly say this book did not meet my expectations at all! Where was the horror? It seemed more like a love story between Beverly, Bill and Ben. Also did she really do what I think she did with ALL of them down there right after having a huge argument with her father that she wasnt doing anything remotely close to it? Ugh am very disappointed in having read this book (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I really want to like this book. I like the plot, but I am finding the pace to be too slow. The parts that I pay close attention to are too few and far between. Now that I am almost done with the book, I am finding the story to be picking up speed. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Like many Stephen King novels, I find that It could have been a little shorter. The story started out strong to pull you in, but the middle was verrrry slow. It redeemed itself in the end. I’m not sure that I’d read this book again because of how long and slow the story is. (hide spoiler)]

IT is really freaky!

Chapters 1-2

George (view spoiler)[That was a horrific murder! It creeped me out knowing that in real life children can be lured by someone who know just how to talk to little kids. FREAKY! (hide spoiler)]

I remember now (since this is my 2nd reading) that the setting is in Derry, the same town as in 11/22/63. All the descriptive detail and how King weaves it into the story line is brilliantly done.
