Sicarius entered the library and looked around, his hood over his head as his eyes roved over the massive selection of books. It was far more than he ever thought he would find. He strode over to slip through the rows and rows of bookshelves, his fingers lightly skimming over the different titles as he moved about the large library with hardly a sound, his footsteps utterly silent on the carpeted floor. As he walked, he could see tables here and there with chairs to sit and read should one wish to, or perhaps they were a location in which one could find silent refuge for homework that they needed a quiet place for. He wasn't sure, as just attending a place with so many was far beyond anything he knew and had definitely thrown him from his comfort zone.
His eyes landed on a book about different plants and he pulled it down to flip through it curiously, head down and with his eyes glued to the pages as he leaned against the bookshelf lightly, hyperaware of his surroundings despite seeming to be distracted. He knew exactly where to go to get in the open to fight, as well as where the escapes were should he need them for a quick getaway. Despite seeming to be relaxed, Sicarius was far from an idle being and was always ready.

Despite what most people would think, with his outgoing, personality, Ben didn't really dislike the library. In fact, he actually really liked it. Sure, it was quiet and, yeah, it wasn't really a place that should have been suited to him, but that didn't mean he had to go along with that stereotype. He liked books; granted, not as much as he liked, say, video games or movies, but they were still nice, and he generally tried to read at least one every once in a while. It might have taken him a month or two to finish it, but at least he gave it his best attempt. And today? He was on the lookout for one to pick up.
Walking over to one of the sections that he'd yet to explore, Ben began looking over the numerous books that lined the shelf. His eyes started from the bottom and racked to the top, only to see one that he might actually be interested in on the highest ledge. Straightening to the tallest he could be, he reached up and attempted to reach for it, only to find that he was an inch too short. Right, of course. Just his luck. Letting out a small sigh, he turned his head to the side for a split second, only to find that there was another person a little further down the aisle. Immediately, his eyes went to the book the boy held in his hands, and he forgot entirely about the one he was reaching for. And of course, being who he was, Ben didn't waste any time in asking the question on his mind. "Hey," he called in a half-whispering tone, just loud enough that he hoped the kid could hear. "That book any good?"

((danke Jenny T^T I can't wait til he gets back I'm probably gonna be like, all over him then pass out >~<))

So there was something peculiar about this kid. Even though Ben wasn't really the most observant person in the world, he could pick up on the fact that this boy wasn't entirely comfortable with having... well, any conversation at all. His brows creased together as he tried to piece together what the problem could be, but the corner of his lips lifted up in a half-smile when he realized that it was probably something simple. Maybe he was shy or something, or maybe it just took a while for him to open up. Whatever it was, Ben wasn't afraid of continuing on. There was something interesting about possibly getting this kid to open up, and he was happy to play along. "Ah," he remarked, his hands slipping into his pockets. "Cool. What's it about?" He took a small step forward and noticed it was actually about... plants. Right, okay. He hadn't exactly been expecting that, but he could work with it. "It looks kind of interesting." His smile grew a bit and he let out a small laugh at the end of his words. "For a book about plants, I mean."

"Huh," Ben spoke, nodding his head. He'd stopped moving by this point, made note to be careful with what he was doing. Though he hadn't let it shown, he'd caught the other boy's unease when he'd taken that step forward, and he wasn't really intent on screwing this whole thing up. Did he want to limit his friendliness? No. Not at all. To be honest, getting close to people was something he did naturally, so it was different for him to keep his distance. But it wasn't that bad. The guy didn't tell him to go screw himself or to bug off, so that was good at least.
"You know, I don't think I've ever actually read a book on plants. Not since I was a little kid, at least." Then again, most of the books Ben read had to deal with far off places and robots and kung fu fighters and all that wonderful stuff. Plants were just a bit less interesting than those things. "I'm guessing you're in Yu then, right? That's pretty cool. I was never really good at understanding poisons and that kind of stuff." He failed to mention that he wasn't really all that great at the whole grades thing in general. Street smarts were his thing. Book smarts? He might have been lacking just a bit there.

Glancing back upwards, Ben's brows furrowed as the boy spoke once more. At first, it was from confusion, but then it shifted to a light amusement. "Nah. No, you're good. I just suck at introductions. You're totally fine." Though, Sicarius's last sentence made him question something: "You... you don't talk to new people a lot?" In Ben's mind, he just figured the guy was shy. Not terribly, but maybe so much that he didn't introduce himself as often as others. Ben used to be like that. But that was a long time ago.

Sicarius stuck the book on the bookshelf again so that he could stick his hands nervously in his pockets. Then he realized that he was feeling nervous and grew confused. He had never been nervous or confused before. Both emotions were more than foreign for one such as he, who was used to being emotionless as per his training. "Well....I....well...don't really....talk to anyone much...." he admitted softly, dipping his head down to stare at his feet. It was actually this fact that made him wonder what it was making him inclined to talk with Ben, he was so used to his own silence that the sound of his own voice was startling to him, it was so rarely used. "I guess....you could say I learned the hard way.....the cost my speaking could make me pay....." he added after a moment, one of his hands moving unbidden to touch the scar freshly healed upon his face.
