The on again off again weather front for the past few days on the eastern coast has finally left, leaving four small tornadoes in areas that aren't well known for tornadoes.

This year the storms passing by are more likely to have circular wind patterns in them which have been staying up in the sky.

While the New York City area has had its share of tornadoes over the past 100 years, they would only last for a block or two, more like a curiosity. The last two (2012, 2018) went for 9 or 10 blocks before disappearing.

The other three tornadoes were in western Massachusetts, a place where tornadoes are rare but do happen. The state has averaged 3 tornadoes a year but since 2014, the number of tornadoes had been diminishing. Now three small tornadoes have occurred in the last 2 weeks.

Birmingham in the centre of England has had a few in recent years; they damage some roof tiles.

Tornado alley is turning into tornado main street. While not discussed this opens the possibility that tornadoes could also expand their global incidences. Currently 75 percent of the Earth's tornadoes happen in the US. The changing climate conditions are changing the way storms set up, this could also lead to tornado formations in other countries becoming more common.
